This has popped up. I've got a OBD reader on order to check and reset, but is there any problem with my driving the car at length in the meantime?

OK, so this arrived this morning...

Car Scanner Memo Scan Trouble Code Reader Tester Diagnostic U480 CAN OBD-II UK

...but keeps giving me the 'Failed Linking' error after running the initial connection protocols. As it was recommended by another PH'er I figured it would work with my 08 V8VR. Faulty OBD unit? (Made in China after all)
