So far life with the V8 has been excellent. However there's one slightly annoying noise in the interior, I thought I'd try to describe it here in case it's a common problem before I pass it back to the dealer to look at.

It doesn't seem to happen when the car is cold, only once it's warmed/loosened up.
It's on the driver's side, seemingly behind my right ear.
It's hard to describe but sounds like something flexing.
Pressing the panels around that area doesn't cause/prevent it, although it's hard to do while driving.
It happens on uneven road surfaces but not consistently. It can sometimes not be caused by a poor country road but then appear on motorway undulations.

Current thoughts are:
Some bit of trim flexing
Something in the boot lid hinge mechanism
Door/boot rubbers rubbing against the doors (tried silicon spray but that hasn't helped)

Any ideas? The car has only done 3k miles if that makes a difference.

Check your tailgate alignment, is it touching the top of the rear bumper?
There are signs of wear on the top of the bumper. That was on the snagging list, could that be it?

But I don't think the noise is actually made by the tailgate touching the bumper. I think it is the adjustment bolt in the hinge itself (pictured below) that makes the noise hence why it sounds like the noise is coming from behind your right ear - because it is! Turn it half a turn either way and see what happens. Probably worth spraying it with silicone too. Hope that sorts it for you.

Just to say thank you so much for this post! I've just got back from a 1,500 mile round-trip to Scotland and the noise would have driven me crazy. Half a turn on that nut totally cured it! Thank you, thank you, thank you! smile
