Kahn modification on DB9

Would like to know the general consensus on the values of the Kahn DB9s? Should the values be lower than an original car in the used car market?


I admit I do like the look of the kit myself especially the rear boot lid.

Would a Kahn car be harder to sell on further down the line?

Gosh there are some funny people on the Aston forum eh?

I appreciate some marks are very price sensitive to after market modification where others are not affected or it actual adds value. This is what I am trying to gauge.

Styling is purely a personal choice. I do concur that adding OEM bits may be the way to go.

After all a DBS is pretty much a DB9 with a body kit and if Aston were happy with the original design then surely they wouldn't change interior consoles etc.

I don't think the Kahn stuff would put me off a car as I mentioned some aspects of the kit are a visual improvement on the original car (personal opinion, not that off the masses)

The general consensus so far is that a modified car should be valued lower than a standard car.

Have many DB9 had any performance upgrades such as remapping earlier cars to the 470bhp of later cars?
How do the dealership react to this if done?
Porsche choke at the idea of a change to factory spec, areAston the same?

Apologies for so many questions, I do want to have a V12 in my life at some point and a DB9 ticks lots of boxes

Oh one other question regarding service history, is a full main dealer a must or Specialist accepted on earlier cars? What specialists would be ok in the North west?

As you have already realised, we do not know much about Aston Martin values, because most of us paid for our cars with lottery money, so it is only small change.

To get an authoritive answer to your question, pop round to the friendly Wilmslow dealer. Best to park your Datsun round the corner though, they might not take you seriously.

You should have been here a week ago. You would have seen a faux DBS.
Nobody thought to ask about the resale value of that car, so you have been very astute.

I did pop in to Wilsmlow at the weekend and had a good chat with Adam who was most helpful. We are going to chat again this Saturday to discuss the DB9 further.

Ps they are having their "Bond" function this weekend with the DB10 present and a DB5.

The GTR has been replaced Jon a while ago I just haven't bothered updating profile details on here. But I must add it was a spectacular car and would recommend trying one to see what the fuss is about.

Thanks Andrew I do tend to buy what I like but I like to keep resale value in mind.

Has anyone heard of or dealt with the Supercar clinic near Bolton? A car I have looked at had part history from there but I have never heard of them.

This is what I wanted to know from the "Aston community". I wasn't sure if it's a purist type or open to modification like Masserati and others.

Tomorrow will be a decider for me as I get to try a DB9 for the first time. Who knows I may find it drives like a bag of ste and look else where.

The kitted car stood out for me as bit just a bit different without being in your/you're/ur (delete as required) face. Astons are fairly common around here so wanting to be a bit different appeals.
I have always listed after a DB9 since launch in 04 but I felt I was not old enough to own a car that had a plank of wood in the dashboard (until now)
