A welcome return to the fold
Discussion
So after a year and a half spent on the dark side (plastic pig ownership ), Ed50s description not mine , this morning I collected my new toy.
To say I am happy would be the understatement of the century, having had a Vantage V8 and a Vantage V8S both with sportshift it is like hooking up with an old friend although the leap up in power is very noticeable but at the same time it is so mild mannered when taking it easy.
Huge thanks to Simon at Aston Martin Works who has made the whole experience such an enjoyable one.
Apologies to the V12V crew but to get funding past the boss it had to be a sportshift as she is much happier driving one of those than the manual. Any way with that NA V12 up front I don't mind what gearbox is in it.
And yes Ed once I have finished driving today I will register for Burghley, unless you want to do it for me so I don't mess up your form with my appalling computer skills.

Hi all
Thanks for the compliments, in answer to the questions it is Volcano Red (sorry but quick camera phone shots under artificial lights gave it a bit of a different hue) lightweight buckets which are great except when the man with some of the shortest legs going tries to get out of them LOL.
Pete, have always tried to keep up to date on the AM forum but yes probably a bit more active since deciding to make a return.
Decent interior shots will be forthcoming, perhaps tomorrow when there is a rumour the sun might make an appearance, but black with red stitching. One I took through the window when I first saw the car a few weeks back to keep you going.

Only managed about 80 miles so far and most of that in poor conditions but OMG I love it, smooth and refined when you want and bloody quick when you decide.
Between brand new Corsas and mainly wet roads I haven't dared use more than half throttle yet and it still feels immense.
Ed thanks for adding me to the B word list and for the encouragement to return to the fold after my previous experience.
Hopefully I will get to put a lot more faces to names at Burghley or at another event beforehand.

Thanks Jon
The plastic pig reference is all Eds work and yes it was indeed a 991 Carrera 4S, great car but in the end to me it was too soul less.
In today's conditions it would have been great at covering ground safely and quickly but I just never felt I was involved in the process.
I have said before I am not knocking the car as it is brilliant at what it was designed for but for me I had miles more enjoyment from going quite a bit slower today in the V12S than I ever managed in the 911.

I just knew I'd get the blame and before I get undue stick I've had plenty of Porsche's myself plus my sister married a German……..The plastic pig reference is all Eds work

Anyway I'm sure you'll get a little faster when we allow you to take the stabilisers off, have fun………..
Anyway coming from 20 plus years of fibreglass canoes I thought I would be OK joking about the plastic pig.
I thought I had progressed from the so called "Training Bra" but stabilisers feels like a backward step LOL.
Last thing I probably had which had anything like a similar torque to weight ratio was my Griff 500 and that was about 12 years ago so I think I just need to recalibrate my brain. Just think how much I will enjoy it once I have my cycling proficiency badge
Thanks again for your assistance with several of the bits that allowed this to become a reality, much appreciated.
Again thanks gents, to say I am like a dog with 2 d**ks doesn't come close.
The colour in particular attracted me to the car it just works so well with the black and carbon accents and on those currently rare occassions when the sun comes out ohhh yes.
Not sure if it is Andy Brews old one although I do remember admiring his one at a lunchtime meet once and at Burghley in 2014.
Nijius look forward to seeing you and your CB V12V at Burghley and I do sympathise with your wait to pick yours up, it could be used as a very effective torture method but it will be worth it in a few days time.
After my little vacation to Porsche I had forgotten how well received an Aston Martin is by the general public, hopefully it will mean being let out of junctions again LOL.
And doing my job as Burghley House Event Enforcer come on those of you who haven't registered yet, it will be a great opportunity to meet up with those Pistonheaders who keep you amused with their comments and to help out those much less fortunate than ourselves.
I believe Eds next target is 300 cars, a paltry amount when you consider TVR managed over 500 at the same venue last year.

Thats it Kev you tell um………….I believe Eds next target is 300 cars, a paltry amount when you consider TVR managed over 500 at the same venue last year.
It would be great to exceed the 300 mark of course but we aren't doing bad with 5 months to go as with Octavariun's entry last night we are at 266 I believe.
Your next mission Kev, should you choose to take it is to rev up another 10 cars this week.
In the words of Victor the Gauntlet is down…, but of course thats in between driving your V12S, looking at your V12S, talking about your V12S,polishing your V12S now your the proud
owner of a V12S…………Congratulations again on joining the club.
Have you considered having a special guest area for past owners and their new forms of transport?(In a corner out of the way of course Mikey and Rob spring to mind as a good start if you were to go down that route
Sorry Ed, failed again but as you said Burghley House Event shouldn't be pushed on people at every opportunity or they may get fed up with it all
As you have mentioned it now though, Mr Tremlini would you fancy a break in the UK at the beginning of July with plenty of photographic opportunities involving Aston Martins and A Stately Home thrown in.

Thanks Matt yours looks great too. There was a Fugplatz blue one up for sale but it went before I got to see it, looks to be cracking colour in photos. It seems to have a bit of colour change depending on conditions, is that right or just variances on camera settings?

One thing that fascinates me is, where does all the family "junk" go from all your garages?
Mine is so full of things that can't be thrown away because ".....that will come in useful one day....", I can't get the car in at all.
We don't have the space or finances to built a bigger garage so the car sits on the driveway and shivers.

I can't speak for the others but having just downsized from a 5 bed house with a large double garage to a 2 bed with a single garage mine is full to bursting
It is though fully shelved at the far end with all fixings, accessories and tools that come from my days as a sparkie along with all the cleaning stuff for the cars.
Spare wheels and tyres are on wheel pods above the car, stepladders and pressure washer sit along the side of the garage and loads of the bulky stuff is in the eaves above.
Bikes and gardening stuff are thankfully in a separate shed but believe me there is a lot in the garage.
I do look longingly at some of the garages that appear on here though, 2 to 3 times the size of the car with some car memorabilia on the walls and looking totally immaculate. One day!!!
Mr Tremlini
Burghley House is a small pile of blocks in the east Midlands, link to website below, where Ed50 is in I believe his 3rd year of organising a get together of Aston Martin owners and their steeds.
The house offers tours and has some lovely gardens/grounds and provides a great backdrop to the gathering(ample photo opportunities for a photographer like yourself).
The aim of the day is to have a good time in the company of our fellow Aston Martin/Pistonhead reprobrates while raising money for worthwhile causes. There is a sticky at the top of the Aston Martin page here giving more details and a thread titled "A Few Cats out of the Burghley Bag" is regularly updated by Ed50.
So please have a look and if you can get over then do register and we will look forward to welcoming a Swiss registered Kiwi to the event.(Please make sure you get some good pics of my car as I never can )

J12KJR, your V12V is a stunning colour, it just changes the car in a very positive way... very different from all the rest of our mundane greys. I worry about your tyre racks though, hope they're secure!
Hi KenThanks for your compliment, I love it but I may be a bit biased.
Don't worry on the wheel pods they are secured to brick work by rawlbolts and then have the added security of 25mm wide steel all round band going over the roof joists and around the tubes of the wheel pod.
I notice you are in New Zealand but Ed50 will beat me severely if I do not promote the Burghley event to you, you could always combine it with a holiday to sunny Britain.
Just seen your garage, to a man that has just gone from a good sized double garage to a single one that is a cruel thing to post.
It is however something that most of us wish we had, bet your 8 x 6 shed is absolutely rammed though.
