Hello all,

As the old thread has run its course here is a final call containing a bit of info regarding this event.

BURGHLEY HOUSE ASTON MARTIN EVENT - Sunday 3rd of July 2016 - FINAL CALL

I am delighted to say that we have 567 Astons currently registered to attend this Charity Event at Burghley House, but there is still lots of room if you can join us.

In this last invitation to attend I wanted to try and whet the appetite of any of you who have still not registered to persuade you to come along and see if we can make it 600.

The oldest car to be displayed is currently a 1930 International with the youngest being the recently announced GT8 which will be part of the Factory’s Display. Their support has been brilliant and in addition to the GT8 they will be displaying a DB11 in Magnetic Silver, a V12 Vantage S Roadster in Cobalt Blue, a Rapide S in Ultramarine Black, a Vanquish Coupe in Skyfall Silver and a DB9 GT in Lightening Silver, there is potentially another surprise but this will only be confirmed just before the Event so keep looking in.

We are also happy to confirm AP will be displaying his own freshly restored beautiful Green V8 Vantage, this can be seen by the AM Factory display.

They will also be supplying a Taraf which will be amongst the Lagonda Wedge display who will be celebrating their 40th anniversary, these will be found on the crescent of lawn in front of the main House.

We will also have a number of other individual attractions:

• The Old Stable Courtyard will have "Pit Style" feel to it with several GT4 Racing Aston's, GT12's and not least the Vulcan joining two classic BRM Formula 1 cars.

There should even be a beautifully restored Period recovery lorry along with the BRM's and just for good measure the AM V12 powered Range Rover will again be making an appearance at Burghley
so be sure to go and have a look at this fascinating conversion.

• The British Dragster Hall of Fame display will include Steve Niemantas's monster 572ci Aston Martin Vantage which is an extremely rare sight and I'm very grateful to Steve for readily agreeing to bring it along.

There will be several other interesting and extremely powerful Dragster also in attendance awaiting your inspection.

• A special display by the Tickford Owners Club is planned as they hope to display at least 6 cars that wear the winged emblem with pride from a very important period with its connections to David Brown and of course Victor Gauntlet.

• AS Motorsports will be displaying there excellent recreations of the famous DBR1,I'm sure Andrew will be pleased to talk you though the cars and readily offer arrangements for a test drive.

• We have two artists who will be displaying their talent. Andrew Hill who created the wonderful Burghley poster and Paul Whitehouse who has painted a DBR1 especially for the day.

Don't forget you can order your copy of the Burghley Poster for collection on the day by emailing me :edwind.cunningham@btinternet.com it costs £25.00 and is on a pick and pay basis on the day from Andrews Stand.

• The mad men from the Rutland Morris Dancing team will add a bit of colour to proceedings and will be looking for new recruits so if your daft, like dressing up and can dance in a peculiar fashion this good be your time.

Adding to the fun we will have 25 trade stands and attractions where the cars will vary from the pre war display by Ecurie Bertelli through to the modern day era with AML's own expansive Factory Display.

The AMOC will have two stands to visit, one being the Club shop the other offering visitors and non members the opportunity to subscribe to membership. The Heritage Trust will also have their own stand for visitors to enjoy.

It looks as if we shall now be having two separate fly pasts (weather and mechanicals allowing). During the morning the Lancaster will make an appearance and then again in the afternoon, during our Raffle and Auction, we will be joined by the Hurricane and Spitfire, these timings are subject to change but I have it on high authority that they are coming.

The Auction has 25 top lots to be bid upon and the list can be seen on the AMOC website (UK Events where it is located in the Burghley Thread) or here on the PH Forum under the old thread of "a few cats out of the Burghley bag".

The lots include Aston Martin related goods and services, Factory visits and Trackday Events. We have 3 mini breaks with the top lot being the 3 night stay in NYC in the 5 star Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan, flying each way Premium Economy with Virgin Airlines.

Ladies do not fear there are plenty of fragrances and other appealing items in both the Auction and Raffle as I wouldn't see you going home with a set of locking wheel nuts or a replacement steering wheel.

Maybe one of the 2 AML Leather handbags would be more in keeping or certainly one of the mini breaks……………shopping in NYC anyone…?.

A catering Marquee will be open from 09:00hrs through to 17:00hrs serving a changing menu as the day progresses.

The wholesome fare begins from 9am with Bacon rolls etc with Burgers and Hot Dogs joining the menu as we go through the day.

The Stop Me and buy one Ice Cream vendor will be doing the rounds but Ice Creams and beverages are available all day from the Catering marquee.

Upon arrival and in exchange for your £10 entry fee you will receive a complimentary programme highlighting the features of the day along with a half price concession ticket for the House should you choose
during the day to take a tour inside.

General entry is from 09:00 hrs through to 11:00 hrs. If possible please arrive early to enable us to get the field in place so the volunteers can enjoy the day's activities as well.

The Event will run to a close around 17:30hrs but the park stays open until dusk so no need to rush away to early.

Please note we shall all leave by the main Burghley House entrance and not the Gate House where you enter, this allows swift access to the A1 and all major routes, please do not attempt to leave in any other way.

Volunteers including my family and friends will be acting as Stewards for the day so I would be really grateful if you would show patience if we are experiencing a heavy flow of cars to park. Our main concern is to take good care of the cars and get them parked safely.

Similarly, we are looking forward to seeing a number of AML Factory staff at the Event, including CEO Andy Palmer. Please remember that AML staff will be are attending this in their own time because they are as passionate about the brand as we are - so please refrain from using this as a chance to complain about flat batteries or paint blisters.

We would welcome additional registration at this time if there are any more wishing to attend. To register your attendance simply email edwind.cunningham@btinternet.com with your name and model of Aston you would like to display this will help in the planning, stewarding and the general plans for the day.

For those who cannot attend but would like to support the Charities by making a donation please visit my Virgin Money Giving Page at this link: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Burghleyastonmarti...

The Charities that will benefit from the day are Cancer Research UK, Chicks, a small UK based children’s charity, Home Start and RAFA.

I do hope that you will be able to join us and look forward to hearing from you to register your Aston and indeed welcoming everyone to Burghley for what I hope will prove to be a most interesting and enjoyable day so don't forget your camera's.

I'm sorely tempted to make the trip from Glasgow. Unfortunately it won't be in an Aston though as I'm still on the hunt for my perfect Vantage.

Is there an area out of the way for gate crashers in other marques?

David.
Morning David,

You'd be a most welcome visitor to Burghley so please do try to attend.

Burghley has general parking which is free of charge but if you are considering attending in something a little more exotic and would rather keep
it away for the masses I have an associate parking area next to the main displays.

To access this it would cost the tenner on the gate but you will then receive the concessions voucher for the House should you wish to tour and the Programme of the day.

Let me know if you decide to come and of course the vehicle and whether you want to be added to the associate area parking.

Hope that helps,

E.

Ed, amazing work

One quick question, I am convincing some friends to join the AM family, and they would love to join. Let's say they will come with me in a non AM-car (for now), is there a car park for non-Astons? and more importantly, are they allowed to get in?

Sorry if this was mentioned already, btw

Thanks,
F
Please see 7 posts above this as the same applies regarding parking etc.

Hope that helps if not please shout.

Hi Ed, not long to go now, really looking forward to this! Quick question: are you gonna be putting similar cars parked next to each other or is it just gonna be random?

Photos of this great choice of car....?? biggrin
Howdy Nijius,

Consider the logistical nightmare of 600 potential cars turning up in a 2 hour window……….eek

I will put the DB7'S along with the modern era Vantages,DB9's and DBS's in one area of the display,a second area will hold Pre War and the earlier cars from DB 2 onwards and up to the NP Vantage and Vanquish era.

I fear thats as much of a shorting I can potentially achieve given the task in hand, well thats the current plan anyway.

Nice one Jazzy I'll add you to the register.

All,

There are no plans for a mass start up as I've pushed my luck as far as it can be pushed over at Burghley and I think the thought of us all starting
up would be pushing it that bit to far as well as most probably taking the windows out ….biggrin

Right you lot I've bust my hump for this event for the past year and now its almost upon us I would simply ask a couple of things please.

Firstly I would like 2 or 3 more GT12's for a special display that is under construction,we already have 3 so 2 or 3 more would be brilliant if anyone can help please on this front.

If you can please email me: edwind.cunningham@btinternet.com

Secondly may I rattle my charity tin one more time to ask for a donation to the Events charities just to keep it ticking away whilst leading up to the event.

I've been inundated with registrations of late but sadly not donations...frown

We raised £11,132.20 last time back in 2014 with a mere by comparison 249 cars present, this years fund is currently sitting at just over the 7K mark as I type and I would dearly love it to be that bit higher as the event approaches.

If you can spare a shilling,a shekel or a grot I'b be very grateful,

Please be as kind as to donate here, http://bit.ly/1Sga3cV

Many thanks I'll listen out for the tin starting to rattle……….rolleyes

Thanks Rich for the rallying call.

We've crept up to just short of £7500 pounds as of this morning so it would be great if we could get over the 8K mark today as that would
help keep me motivated and help deflect some of the ear ache I get from my wife about the amount of time I spend on this project………..:roll eyes:

This is time I should be painting, decorating or in deed as of this morning orders cutting the bloody lawns……...eek

Right I'm away outside as I can hear her coming back down stairs, there's nothing like being master in your own home is there…….biggrin

Come on save my skin chuck a few bob in,see poetry as well…………..

Hi All,

Please be aware that Clive Chedzey from CC Chargers who is fitting his excellent Exhaust switches on the day at Burghley has space for 12 further appointments.

Each unit will be fitted on the day as Clive will come to your car to under take the work.

There will be no movement to the vehicle on the display field and Clive's assures me each fitting will take probably 15 minutes or so.

The cost is a very reasonable £80 with Clive very kindly donating the entire fee to the charity pot.

With such a generous offer from Clive please get behind him and fill the outstanding 12 appointment slots.

To make your appointment please contact Clive prior to the event here : Home 01252 614127 or by mobile 0780 6465818.

He's now awaiting your call.

Many thanks………thumbup

Yes, very much appreciated as you know Rob.

Thanks to the rallying call supported as ever by Rich we have had 8 donations since yesterday afternoon bringing in an extra £810.37 according to Virgin Money
Giving who have just updated me.

We are now at about £8,200 pounds so 9k is now in sight thank you.

As we are on a roll please keep it going, I promise the Event will be worth every copper you can spare, plus every donation really does further motivate me along the way
and it helps make up for the sleepless nights, the nightmares and the newly acquired twitch.

It also keeps the wife at bay when she see's I'm actually doing something positive.

She's currently trying to book another holiday to get over watching me lose my hair over my pitiful attempt at event planning……..biglaugh, bless her.

Anyway come on guys help make my day and give the charity tin some stick as there's plenty of room left in it for some spare change.

Many thanks as ever……..thumbup

Rich,

Last time I was rather late in setting up a Virgin page so 80% ish of that figure was generated mostly on the day.

Obviously last time was small fry compared to this effort and at that time I hadn't turned into the worlds biggest scrounger of raffle and auction prizes either.

Lets hope with the extra numbers involved and certainly the quality contained both in the raffle and the auction that the final figure reflects the effort that had gone into it.

I also note that most of the figure so far has come via the forum so I'm hoping those that have signed up via hear say or advertisement show their charitable spirit on the day.

If as you mentioned on the other thread…………..if everyone threw a tenner in it would make a tremendous difference.

Thanks as ever……..thumbup

Morning Pete and all.

People keep mentioning last years event but believe it or not the last big one was July 2014.

Its a very good response this time and I think with a bit more pushing I could have got to 750 in honesty as it does seen people are interested in the event.

I've had to cap it now on Burghley's say so as we have to remember the strain on facilities such as the bogs and the concessions outlets.

Although I have organised a largish catering marquee this time in addition to the Houses own outlets and restaurant I would advise people bring a picnic and plenty of drink.

Whilst I'm on may I ask of peoples patience whilst being parked as we want to get everyone in quickly but above all safely so please show a bit of patience and please pay the ladies on arrival your tenner.

Please have a freshly ironed tenner readily at hand to speed up matters as messing about to change a 50 pound note will cause a knock on effect.

We will have 2 main areas to park so don't panic if you get pointed to a different place to the 10 cars in front of you,its just to try and improve the flow.

The event will have so much to see your will be in for a full day so going back to the grub bring plenty and look to stay for a great day.

If any one has any questions please mail me.

Please remember unfortunately this event is now FULL.
