Dear all, just a coupe of quickies.

1. Can I get a printout of the detailed service history from my "new" DB9, from a dealer or Aston themselves? The book is stamped but I would like to know what indicidual actions comprised this over the last 10 years, like plugs and coils etc. The independant dealer who I bought the car from said he tried but was told it was "priveleged information", would I, as an actual owner, be similarly dismissed?

2. In the same veign, I've been looking at menu service price costs, and they all seem to quote age/mileage combos that end at 70k/7years. My next one will likely be 25k/10 years! Do you just start again after 7 with another "no1" service, or does fixed price servicing end then? It seems odd the factory don't make allowance in the service book after such a short time, do they think everyone is at specialists after this date?

Yes it sounds like a history printout is something best discussed pre-sale at a franchised dealer!

Mine is an 07. I realise there isn't such a thing as "fixed price" at that age, and should have said "indicative".

I still think the service notes could be more specific as to what happens after year 7 though.

Whilst on the subject, a brake fluid change annually seems very belt and braces. I realise its not a high cost item but all other cars I've owned this has been a 5 yearly thing, maybe 3 yearly tops.

Rolley eyes? Well when I told my local salesman I wasn't buying their car he went a bit sulky, so I'm not looking forward to going back with requests for info unless its a given!

I'd test driven their best DB9 in my price range, which was very nice but right at the very top of what you would pay for an '07, and they wouldn't budge an inch. A few days later when he called to follow up and I said I'd found one elsewhere it felt like breaking up with a clingy girlfriend, lots of silent pauses! I didn't realise our relationship had gone so far so quickly hehe Unfortunately a better/cheaper car turned up elsewhere.

Actually credit where it is due everyone there was just fantastic and super friendly. I thought a peasant like myself would be ejected from the premises when I first turned up, but their customer approach beat any independant garage I'd visited. There is "general posh car" specialist in the North East I can't believe is still in business the 30 odd years they have been. On each occasion I've looked at anything I've been ignored or made to feel I've just trodden dog dirt through the showroom. So even though they currently have a Jag that fits my current search perfectly I'll not bother them.
