I think this is a given really. I'm not an engineer or anything like, however I'd assume it's getting nigh-on impossible to carry on using NA 8's and 12's and meet the ever more stringent emissions rules whilst also increasing fuel efficiency at the same time.
Have to agree, but at the very least nowadays there is capacity to improve performance & maintain that wonderful sound track.
A very long time ago I bought an Series 1 1/2 E-Type from the US, the only way Jaguar could meet their regulations was to replace the SU Carbs with Strombergs which strangled it to death. Enterprising souls put a low-speed diff in them to improve the 0-55 mph times. I took it on the motorway & at 70 mph I thought I was in 2nd!! Didn't keep it long!
