Hi, I own a Gen 7 Celica 190, reader's cars thread here if anyone's interested: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Recently I've noticed a slightly odd occurrence developing. At lower rpm the gearchange is light and smooth, but has become heavy and fairly clunky once the cam lift has engaged past 6,000rpm.

Any other owners noticed this happening?

As yours is the pre-facelift have the lift bolts been changed? Cheap and easy fix to rule out anyway!
Aren't lift bolts mega-cheap? I can't remember if they've been done, a root in the service history will tell me.

Do you mean it feels like your hitting a notch when you change up?
I have just fitted some brass gear linkage bushes today from the standard rubber ones and the difference is night and day.

Its a cheap mod , fairly simple to do but can be quite fiddly and hard getting the old bushes out.
Feels like "bolt action" changing gear with the brass installed.
Any chance of telling us how to do it? or a link to a forum showing it?

Thanks in advance.
Yeah, I'm interested in this.
