Just wondering if anyone else on here has a Q50 diesel Auto?
I've found a few annoying niggles with mine and I was wondering if it was just me or if "they all do that sir"

Twice in 2 weeks the steering has gone off centre and I have had to fight it all the way to work, and sometimes when pulling away from junctions the car just refuses to have any grunt for the first 5 metres or so and then takes off like a mad thing. Both of these are annoying and borderline dangerous!

There is a load of other bits too that are less intrusive like the much less than expected MPG, the flat tyre warning that only resets after 3 weeks, the clock that randomly changes time on its own etc, etc.

Bugging me because otherwise its a great looking, comfortable, and rare car...

Don't get me wrong. It's a great car but just a few annoying niggles tainting it at the moment. But because it is rare it's hard to find out if its my car only or common issues.

Happily tell you more if you are interested...

oh and the Qx70 has the 3.0 v6 diesel which I have had in a laguna coupe!
A real peach of an engine, even sounds nice. Tonnes of grunt but not that economical.

Second hand although it is pretty much brand new. Year old with about 5k miles on it smile

The US Infiniti forum looks pretty good for the Q50 so signing up there tonight.

We looked at a few other premium brands but they were quite dull compared to this.
How you getting on crush?

I think the issue is with this as Lexus had with their diesel variant. Because it wasn't the norm for them the diesel technology just wasn't on par with rivals. The petrol engines in both cars are excellent though.
That said my Lexus is220d had atrocious turbo lag, but 2nd gear at about 1700 revs would fly. Absolute great cruiser. Poor mpg though again like the Infiniti. Would definitely have an infiniti though given the chance. I love rare luxury cars that are different from your usual German rivals.
Its a mercedes engine and gearbox though?

My MPG continues to improve as the car runs in. averaging 45mpg at 5k miles which means I can get 700 miles out of a tank which is good. Still disappointing MPG though. My brother had the C-class with the same engine and averaged high 50s and could get 70mpg on a run (yes I know its a smaller car, but its not that much smaller). I struggle to get over 50mpg on a run!

They are rare though. probably seeing less than 1 a week and I spend 90mins + on busy roads everyday.

Thought I would give this a quick bump. Mpg dropped again in the cold weather. Down to 41 mpg

On a motorway run we can easily achieve 58-61mpg if using the cruise control set to 70mph

The average is about 45mpg though (probably the stop-start driving due to traffic/traffic calming/road works/insert other infuriating cause of delay we have to suffer in town )
Similar overall then, glad it's not just me! Thanks smile

Bit of an update in case anyone cares (probably not).
Had the car serviced back at the start of April and mpg seems to have improved a couple of MPG. Now getting closer to 47MPG and over 700 miles to the tank which is useful.
Not sure what they did, maybe they reflashed the ECU or something, as I can't believe just an oil change made such a difference but it was immediately better the next day which can't just be down to the warmer weather (it was still pretty cold at the start of April), still a long way off the claimed MPG though.

As a side note the onboard MPG calculation seems to be absolutely spot on compared to brim to brim calculations which is novel!
