Slightly old news if you follow the forums in the UK.

Some background. My girl and I have 2 Celicas. Both 6th generation. Hers is seriously lowered, running 17" wheels, significant ice, full Veilside kit, full respray in toyota green, custom interior and a 50 shot of nitrous.

It is the sensible car of the pair.

Hers is an ST, which is 7A-FE powered. Not the most powerful engine in the world. Hence the N20.

Unfortunately, if your piston rings aren't quite 100%, and a BMW M3 tries it on, and you're slightly unhinged, you reach for the little red switch.

And this happens.

Oh dear.

Cost me a new engine.

Proper (read expensive) Wizards of NOS setup, professionally fitted. Only operated on WOT.

We suspect that the piston simply had a flaw, and couldn't handle the extra. It happens.
