Why a 645...Wanted a V8, wanted some comfort and wanted a coupe and where else can you get all this for 7k..Amazing value for money at the moment..

.....And what a car. Different beast to the M3 of course........Drove 100 miles home in her on Tuesdy and loved it...Smooth, comfy, fast and looks bloody stunning (well to me it does but I know looks divide opinion)......

So why did I pick this car.....

Good bits
Paint work is good with a deep shine to her.
Interior is almost spotless
77k on the clock and most I was looking at in this price bracket had 100k on the clock.
Serviced last month at a cost of £600
New pads, disc last Jan
Some of the issues associated with these cars have been sorted with receipts - Sump, oil leaks....
One thing I wanted was Logic7 HI Fi but the advert never mentioned it. To my joy it does have it...What a sound system...Think it was around a 2k option...
All tyres around 80% to the good....
And she is a joy to drive....Very different to what I'm used to.

Not so good
Wheels need a refurb as whoever refurbed then didn't do a good job and there is a corrosion on them.
Some stone chips on the front and a few on the passenger door.
A few age related marks on back bumper.

Was not concerned about the bits above as I used this to my advantage with the price and will eventually get all this done. In fact I am very pleased with the price and my purchased but as a matter of urgency must get those wheels done as that will bug me until sorted. Will also be getting the chrome around the window changed to black and the front grills black as well....maybe

So all in all a very happy man.....Lets hope it stays that way the car is reliable..Now to get her is the same condition as I had the M3....Still can not believe that you can get this much car for 7K....

That's the plan...Anthracite or gunmetal...or maybe just change them for a different style maybe...

Black grille and gunmetal would look great.

You have me looking on autotrader now!!

This car was on my list when looking....I did speak to the dealer briefly as it was taken off sale as some one was intereted but couldn't get finance so has been put but up for sale.....Love the colour...but the reason I went for the one I did was that I got it for a £1000 less and it had 77k on the clock compared to 90 on the blue one.......Plus the grey had Logic7 which is just amazing....The blue car does look very lovely though.

My two lads love it in the back because of the contoured seats and high centre section..Not had adults in there yet......I love the car after only a week and do not miss the M3.....It handles really well for such a big car with little body roll which surprised me......And the cabin is a big step on from the E46...Lovely place to be on a journey.

thats a lovely machine, gets better looking with age too. i test drove a couple in may, great engine i was going to get one and then my trade in exploded so i had to have a cheaper V8. But every day i drive past them wishing i had that extra couple of grand.

enjoy
Agree on the age bit....love it more these days than when it came out. Seems to have got better over time and not showing it's age at all.

Just a couple more pictures after another layer of wax....

SO what do you think on wheels.....Was going to get them redone in anthracite or maybe change them. There are two styles I've been offered....A CSL type wheel that fits the standard tyres...Love this type wheel but not sure it will suit the 6....Or a later style BMW wheels but these would need 15mm spacers to fit and although I had spacers on my M3 not sure the 6 is the sort of car that needs them and I don't want the wheels to look all boy racer poking out of the arches so will probably just refurb....

I love the 2 standard style of wheel that BMW put on the 6......but what has surprised me is that not many do on the BMW forums.......I will probably just get mine refurbed in Anthracite........

I thought about CLS style wheels for my 645 but had the same concern - I didn't think they would be suited to such a solid/heavy/substantial looking car. I happened to spot a 6 in the classifieds the other week (it's maybe still there) that had them fitted and tbh they looked out of place. I have the standard Ellipsoid (121?) style wheels and I like them, they just need a decent refurb. See here for a list of all BMW wheels.

Lovely car btw; got mine a year ago and exactly the same spec but dark blue with nappa cream interior. Is that an umbrella in the passenger footwell?

Yes, it's a BMW umbrella...Think it was an option that not many took up in the UK....

I had to see if the deep dish CSL wheel would suit the 6 so here's a photo shop...I didn't think they would suit but now I've done this I rather like them...

Looks good................My M3 had Tein springs but can not bring myself to lower the 6 due to the nature of the car..Don't want to spoil that ride....

Think these look better than the CSL style ones.
