Guys

Would appreciate some feedback on the following DPF issue on a E60 535d. I have been monitoring the I drive service schedule which was advising c20000 miles on the DPF. As if by magic it referenced 120,000.miles this morning and which I thought might have been reset in error by my local indie who was clearing some brake light fault codes during the week- on drive back tonight I got a yellow engine warning light with a increased emissions warning " Fault affecting emissions have problem checked by BMW" The exhaust note sounded a little odd and definite burning smell around car when I parked up. Does this all sound like a new DPF is required?

All feedback appreciated.

Thanks

Ok thanks for the prompt response- I will get it diagnosed and prepare for what will no doubt be a big bill!

Thanks for the additional replies so here is the update after a trip to the dealers today- not sure whether to laugh or cry but here goes-my warning light was due to an air mass sensor fault linked to a split hose on a turbo boost pipe from inter cooler to the manifold. Didn't really have time to discuss in detail today but they are not totally sure that they have fixed the problem but no repeat of fault following a sharp drive home. The other more than slight concern is that they reckon the car is a little down on power- it doesn't feel it though and they weren't totally sure that this wasn't a misreading on their computer ! Car itself looks fantastic but looks are skin deep...oh and I will need 2 front tyres very shortly ! Thinking it might be time for a change ...

thanks Guys-any feel for a ballpark cost to change the thermostats on a fitted basis by an indie?
