After driving my new 3 days old 330d Luxury. ,I cannot believe how bad the suspension is.
Circumstances meant I needed a new car quickly and here it is.

I had a 120d SE auto 57 plate from 6 months old and I cant believe i bought this 3 series to be more comfortable as I do a lot of miles and how its ended up.

3 days in, my lower back really sore the seat is just not as comfortable as the oner and that was so much more chuckable, and the seats were longer and hugged you more(not sport seats)
Anyway back to the suspension ,floaty ,wallowy ,a ship when you corner as you fall out the seat. On the M25 between herts and essex today ,choppy ride as well(thought that was only M sport domain?)

....anyway this cant go on and I have made my mind up to go to Kings Lynn for the day and get the AC schnitzer sports suspension. Funny enough Forumer Gizlaroc allways maintains the M sport suspension is better than the SE for our roads, maybe he is right

The car in Imperial Blue , venition leather interior and twin chrome exhausts erc looks great ,the engine is amazing, but my body was a lot more comfortable in the old 117K miles One Series and that cant be right can it??

Booked the car into rossitors for the ACS sports suspension,,they are also Recaro ditributors ,but dont have all the seats in the showroom,so Im going to the main importers in Leicester to have a sit in a few.

Mind you this is crazy ,thought by getting a £40K motor I would be in something akin to a comfortable ride ,never dreamed id be doing all this ir spernding out more money.

By the way BMW dealer says its a no no cost wise to change from SE seats to sports something to do with electrics

Oh yes some of the seats are er quite pricey!!!

Thing is ,that SE seat I have is flat ,you have no thigh support so as you brake you come forward like on a roller coaster.

This is where you need a seat bottom that can be tilted up at the front to support your thighs.
Sports can do that .......and I think electric seats on the ordinary (not 100% on that )

IATM said:
not trying to be a dick (I guess I am) did you not think to test drive the dam thing before spending that much money.

If I was you I would PX it for an F10. Considerably more comfortable.
You win the prize,,,only a matter of time.lol

I had a 120d SE with SE seats and had no problems liked the seats and the suspension ,so anyone I reckon would think a 3 series would be better not worse .....Yes??? I had on order a new 225d M sport with a Part exchange that was slowly falling to bits, due in a month ,when I would bring my PX in to the dealer.Got a call saying now could be 6 months.I needed a new car quickly and they sourced this for me and the repayments were slightly less so I went for it.

Tell you something else there is actually more room for a driver in a oner ,amazing,

Knitware ,intersting and a clue in there...I allways thought the SE suspension set up in the 120d se was finejust a bit HARD so I thought the SE would be maybe a touch soft,
I did not realise it would be sitting on a marshmellow that would still like bumps,
Still from everything ive read the ACS suspension is the business...Ill give an honest review when I get it.

Very poor really, I wish the Jag XE had been around with a 3ltr diesel ,I would have definitely tried that out ,but with this 3 series |I thought I had enough feedback from 6 years in the oner to make a decision,

..Trying to think positive ,even getting the Full springs and dampers suspension from ACS overall it works out the same financials as the new 225d I had on order,

Thats it wills ,a lot of chats with Lorcan at Rossiters,he said he would personally go with that and not the RS adaptive unless I was tracking it.Its all ill ever need he said.

Ive seen so many BMW Forums post after post saying how great the Springs alone are ,but I decided as Im going up there from London I might as well just go for it and get the Dampers as well.He said the SE dampers just arent up to the job and I reckon hes not wrong.

Wills doing a bit of hunting,

http://www.jaginfo.org/showthread.php?9-Jaguar-XF-...

Posters are going to Spires http://www.spires-st.com/ paying £1500 for their XF suspension upgrade to get a decent ride...what gives with these car manufacturers?...and these are 50K cars!!

Re your car, lorcan did say the Xdrive was as bad as mine because as you know its SE suspension ,would you ever consider having a punt with just the springs bearing In mind many BMW dealers will fit for you.I think many owners just change the springs.

On the M25 yesterday ,a situation with a lorry pulling out ,I gave it some right foot, and as this car can go a bit (330d) I ended up not hanging about. Now Ive been driving for 38 years since I was 17 and I have to say I was as spooked as Ive ever been,
I suggest if pushing on the SE suspension in a new F30 is dangerous.....It was like I had lost contact properly on this flat dry road ,so floaty and wallowing,I thought I would lose control.Difficult to explain, but very unnerving.

All I know is thankfully Im booked into Rossiters to have the AC schnitzer suspension next friday

Well OP here ,got my ACS sports suspension today.

Where do I start? On the run up from London to Rossiters early morning as luck would have it sat nav took me to an odd sounding area called Prick willow ,this was miles of straight roads but very undulating. My partner was with me and the floaty bouncy ride was nuts even she couldnt believe it ,an easy 60mph was impossible so backed off to 50. Ian an Ex BMW master tech did the job and said there were no issues with my standard set up ,its just the way it is.

So heading back instead of going straight back down the A10 I found these long straight back roads again the perfect test.
Tell you nearly cried lol.....its now the way a BMW should behave , put foot down and just planted itself ,fantastic.Going round corners is now on rails, braking heavily just stays straight ahead instead of falling forwards.

Im extatic ,I can now push on when driving.

I dont care what anyone says that SE set up is flawed.

,,,,and thanks to Lorcan and Ian ,I can really enjoy the cars potential.,,and of course AC schnitzer.

Wills , thanks your a toff and scholar.Just to add went to leicester on wednesday to sit in all the Recaro seats ,didnt really get into them (no pun etc) bought a £30 seat cover from halfords and that has made the normal BMW seat nice and supportive and actually quite comfortable,so im finally getting there.

Sat in an S class merc seat yesterday boy oh boy now that is a seat!!

Yes id say dangerous ,I got out of trouble on the M25 ended up doing 90mph very quickly ok shoot me ,but I was bouncing felt I had no control and by the way there was no problems with this suspension.Wouldnt want to experience it again thats for sure. The ACS is a totally different proposition,
