Hi guys some of you may have read my posts in the past regarding my search for 325i cab, finally found the right car today and picking up tomorrowsmile right my question is the car is a 2008, on a 08 reg. Basically why is it some e90 cabs have a mpg guage and some have a oil temp guage? The car I'm looking at has a oil temp guage, correct me if I'm wrong but it should be at a steady 90 degrees once warmed up? And usually sitting bang on in the middle of the guage? The car was fully warned up after test drive and I'm sure was reading 80ish? And was only maybe 1/3 of the way rather than bang on in the middle. The guage also read all the way upto 170 or 190? I'm confused. Any comments appreciated

Basically it's an 2008 325i sport, Where the Rev counter is some e90 models have a mpg meter the car I'm getting has a oil temp guage. Just seemed abit strange. And silly me I realised today I mistaked the oil temp guage for coolant temp guage as on my e46. So when it wasn't reading bang on in the middle of the guage I was abit concerned. So it's normal for oil temp guage to raise and drop depending in how hard your driving? Why bother with it on a 325? Makes sense on a 335 and m3, 325...no!

Anyone got an explanation?

Okay so I'm not the only one then smile I been looking at other 325s for sales on the net to compare, and it seems auto models with paddle shift seems to have the oil temp guage. Maybe it's a paddles shift thing? God knows

Okay must be a common thing then, my bad smile just strange why some models have it and others don't, it's not even a build year thing as any 2 given 08 plates can be different. Got one other question though, the car I bought is a convertible, 2 days ago when we had car on the road it was up on the kerb one end, the roof then started playing silly buggers and refused to close. It completed its full range of motion and at the final stage where it locks into near the windscreen it wouldn't locate itself and lock up. Told dealer I weren't happy he took it in and investigated further, he claims its common and it sets a sensor off when not sitting right and has to be reset in order to work again- complete ste right? Dealers already given me a years warranty on everything else but claim no one apart from main dealer will cover a roof. I was tempted to walk away , but the car was really tidy, pulled nicely, and felt lovely and tight. I said I won't take car away unless he gave me peice of mind on the roof, and should anything go wrong I can come back and get repaired no questions asked, he agreed, wrote it all out on invoice we signed. anyone hear of the cab roofs acting like this ?

Update, had car almost a week now, temp guage is fairly healthy, and roofs behaving itself, what's the likelihood of roof playing up again has dealers only covering it for 3 months, literally had it up and down a few dozen times now

True, I know that's the test I've got to do, just bricking it abit as its minus conditions outside and if roof don't close im buggered frown to put icing on cake dealers all the way in Swindon and I'm in London frown I will give it a pop after New Years, don't want to get the hump with car just yet lol

Yeah I'll defo have try and replicate same scenario, esp has its still on warranty. I actually didn't go for the manual in the end got fed up of looking smile went for a 08 325 sport auto in the end, black on black. Love it smile auto works surprisingly nicely in the 325, reminds me of my 330ci lot smoother gear changes though. I'm seriously considering a dealer warranty once current warranty runs out, hard top roofs can't be cheap to replace
