Rear Wiper on a BMW 5 Touring not working ?

A pal has recent 520D estate ( not sure of the year), and the rear wiper has stopped working. Apparently it was not frozen to the screen when it first happened, but is there a common issue with these ? I am going to take a look this morning, fuses are the most logical place to start I guess.
