BMW V8 engine rebuild - any recomendations
Discussion
Hi all, im new to the BMW section after selling my Cerbera and purchased a 4.6is BMW x5. Unfortunately the timing chain guides have broken and chains have slipped leaving the engine sounding like a bag of spanners. The 4.6 engine is rare as rocking horse poo and i am struggling to find a replacement. My ideal would be to have my engine rebuilt with new shells, valves etc etc as then at least i know the condition of it rather than keeping my fingers crossed that a second hand lump was ok.
So i was wondering if anyone knew of an engine specialist who can rebuild the v8 engine (i think mine is a m62 version). There are various 'local' engine places near me who do general engine building but i would rather use someone who is recommended rather than a shot in the dark. Ive asked on the X5 forums but no one seems to know of anyone. It doesnt really matter in regards to location because i can always send the engine on a pallet to wherever.
Thanks for any advice
