E92 Gearbox Oil Change (Auto)

My E92 (2008) has done 96,000 miles and on its last MOT had an advisory that the seal was spotting oil.

As a result I am wanting to know how much people have paid or would expect to pay for a gear box oil change. The garage where I had the MOT suggested it would be £360, that is with the seal and plug etc.

I am just not sure if this is a good price or even if I should have a bash myself?

I think it depends on whether it is just the oil that is changed, or if they change the oil pan, seal and filter. I will need the lot changing if there is spotting.

I am guessing it will be more than £70 but £360 seems high to me.

I think the kit is about £150-£175 for the oil/filter/pan change, so it looks like they are wanting to charge me about 3-4 hours labour at £50 ish an hour.

I have considered a DIY but like you say I would need to get the car level and get the tools in to do the work.

All in all it seems like a fair price in that case and to be honest I didn't fancy the DIY option to be honest
