Noticed that the mechanical drive belt tensioner had a knackered pulley on my E46. So I ordered an OEM service kit that included a new tensioner, pulley and belt. Is it normal for the tensioner on the air compressor belt to have less resistance than the main serpentine belt?

Also, the Contitech belt was made in 2012 so about three years old! Should I ask the dealer to exchange for a newer belt made in 2014/2015 or does this rubber have a long shelf life?
