HI PH-ers,

With the demise of BMWland I need to call upon your vast wealth of experience for help please.

My 2009 335i has gone in for a service. Has a misfire fault which I knew about, it finally threw up an engine management light so they got a code, coil and spark need replacing on one cylinder - fine.

REplaced - re-diagnosed, and now computer says all 6 injectors need replacing. Erm - ok.

RAC Warranty company apparently won't cover the injectors as they consider that wear and tear (at 74,000 miles?) and I'm loathed to spend the ridiculous amount of money replacing them, for their computer to then say 'oh sorry - wasn't that, now it's this'

so questions. Are injectors a known issue on the 2009 335i's? And should my warranty company not cover that?

And if you're a magician, will this fix the fault?

Thanks in advance.

No idea the unhelpful service lady knows nothing about cars but said computer says all 6. If it's a known issue on this engines can someone point me to some evidence if they have any then I can take that up with BMW. It's only been misfiring at cold it's fine when warm so I'd be surprised if it was all 6 too.

Also - is this potentially a symptom of the HPFP failure?

What's more annoying is the warranty company deciding they won't pay as they think it's wear and tear. Will fight with them first and if not I'll speak to the dealer about the recall.

Thanks for all your help.

I'm a 2009 (59) and yesterday had all fuel injectors and buffers replaced. It's N54 engine, yours will be the same. I have AUC warranty, 71k miles. It was accepted as fault, not wear and tear.
Hi smuler - can you let me know where you had that done please, as BMW are saying it's not a known issue with mine

SO - small update.

As all 6 have failed the warranty co are saying the injectors are end of serviceable life. They won't pay up. If 2 or 3 had failed they would but they're not interested if all 6 have.

BMW are saying they're not EOSL they've failed, there's no known issues with the piezo injectors on the cars of this year (there were with the 2 years before though) so they're not covered by any recalls etc.

Big bill for me then frown
