Looking to buy a 335d xdrive.

Stratstone have an offer at £459 per month and £459 down inc massive contribution or I can buy a used one at £30k (put £10k cash down) and get a loan for rest.

any suggestions?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info guys -

How does the 340i retain value?

The example at vardy probably has the 340i costing the same at the 335d

I have the 335d at 459 deposit and 459 a month on a 10k miles deal...

The 340i deal at 398 per month has 2000 down so probably not really much in it...

If they were the same price which would you opt for?

I went to see my local bmw today and I specced a 335d car and its coming in at 510 with servicing including with 459 deposit. Trying to get in under 500 and might pull the trigger... List is £44k

Thanks for that

What don't you like about the 335d?

I am definitely speccing the adaptive suspension and m sport plus package on the 335d I think...

I think by the time i've gone for the Auto box in the 340i and because it has less dealer contribution and less miles included it will cost more than the 335d specced similarly..

Thanks for raising it though...

I used to have 120d and I didn't really mind the diesel power delivery. It was just far too slow after my other cars - a C32 Amg and I've just had stolen from my drive a GOLF R Manual.

The latest Golf R I had was nice, but feels lacking low down in the power (which I imagine the 335d definitely won't) - and the cabin was not half as nice place to be... It was great around the twisties but rarely did I get to use it for that and most of my 12-15k miles a year were motorway miles anyway with work.

When I use power its mostly just accelerating from lights or overtaking etc, - i'm no stig and although the Golf R's grip amazed me, I rarely used its full talents...

Ok I've ordered a 335d with adaptive suspension and some other extras today....

Had a brief test drive of a used one in the wet and I liked it.

X drive does appeal a bit as we have been stuck in the snow with work a few times in a merc and bmw and it was a pain! Also with the adaptive suspension - hopefully that improves the handling a bit.

The dealer did it cheaper than the 340i and the dealer admitted that the residual value would be higher on the 335d after paying the same payments as well.
I think the 340i would have been nice to try and i probably would have been tempted but sadly I had to order today (due to work comittments over the next few weeks) and there was no 340i's available to try.

He did say the 340i was a very nice drive though and that it probably had more power top end and a more sporty delivery.

I'm happy with my decision - Compared to the golf, it didn't feel as sporty but that wasn't a bad thing. Felt more refined thats for sure and shifted pretty well but not super fast.

We spend about £250 a month on fuel for a car that averages 31mpg so we will now get around 40-45mpg (when we do miles its all on the motorway or at 50mph pretty much) so an extra 30% of mpg equates to about £82 a month for us saving which is good...

With me it was all about circumstance - we need a car next tuesday for work and the dealer offered to sell me one of their part ex cars and buy it back for £300 less when my car comes in. They are even taxing it for me!

All this taken into consideration - and us really pushing a hard deal worked out nicely smile

Good on you for doing the deal and hope you enjoy the car - I know some of my comments might have come across as a bit negative about the 335d but it's probably because I'm a petrolhead at heart and miss the noise of a nice BMW straight six petrol engine! As for the 335d not being super fast, I know what you mean but it's deceptively quick and on more than one occasion my speed has strayed higher than I intended (especially on motorways and dual carriageways). The combination of huge torque and the auto box also makes it a very effortless and effective overtaker and if you're doing 50mph on the motorway you should certainly see mpg starting with a 4; sure you'll be happy with it when it arrives!
Not at all. Thanks for the honest feedback. Usually everyone just says now much they love their car!!
Definitely deceptively quick. I was at 80 in no time.

Can see why the 340i was recommended but I think all things considered this was the right deal for me.

Having said that if merc had offered the same contributions on a similarly priced cla45 - today might have been quite a lot different wink

Hmm, I need 20k pa but even so the price I'm being quoted for a pre-reg doesn't seem competitive. What's your spec? M-Sport package (with brakes), leather, pro-nav, H-K audio? Those are really the only things I care about.
That was with no options. I've added m sport plus package. Heated seats and wheel. Protection glass and all important adaptive suspension.

That's come to 459 down and 510 a month with service package over 4 years.

that's with tom at blue bell in Crewe.

Does anyone know if you can get BMW to spray the wheels a different colour?

I wanted a grey type colour not the bright silver.

Is that for a saloon or a Touring? Either way it sounds like you've got yourself a good deal there!
It's a Saloon and it comes with 19" but they are silver as the only option not grey

It's really hard to know how good a deal you've got because first we were getting quoted £100 more a month without servicing but you haggle and haggle and after hours this is where we got to after playing a couple of dealers off against each other.

The main thing that sealed it was the part ex car they are letting us buy and then agreeing to buy back in he interim period until our car comes.

Yes we've chosen The m sport plus package. There are a choice of 2 different alloy wheels.

The grey ones are kind of half grey but I didn't like them.

On the deal front i know better deals have been available in the past - namely the lease deal a few weeks ago but at the moment it seems like it's a keen deal?

I'm interested to know if it is a keen deal?

List was £44k - first Time I've bought a new car so negotiating was completely new to us.

We have no deposit (well £459)

So I guess it's not bad. Not as good as a deal as you got but then facelift has only just
come out and this will be a facelift.

Also got free servicing so on the road I think should be nearer to 45...

Not sure what the total credit I've taken is. I've asked for this info.

But yes they are selling me a Passat for £2300 to use until
My car comes with a guaranteed buy back of £2000.

This is a massive plus as a car for 2 months would have cost me more than £300 in hassle alone and then the cost of a hire would be a lot.

Just worked out if I'd have put £4k down then it would be £425 a month so considering less options that's not bad.
