Hi all

Took delivery of our 4 series GC on Monday. Its a beauty with the MSport kit, even in footballers white (Alpine White with Ivory Leather) - but i'm actually more impressed with how much shove the 20d engine has. We have always had larger engined cars - this replacing a 3.0 petrol V6 Audi A4 - So in all honestly I thought we had made a bit of a mistake ordering the 20d (without first driving it..who does that!?) But i'm pleased to say the drive is fantastic and really has exceeded my expectations of a 2.0 turbo diesel. The torque is fantastic and utilised to its fullest with the ZF8 box. Theres a bit of diesel clatter when its idle and when you get a bit pedal heavy but this is probably obvious.

The car has come in standard MSport spec, so it comes with Xenons, heated Ivory leather, Electric mirrors, 18'' wheels, and does have the Pro media sat nav.

The pro sat nav & multimedia is very impressive - I like my gadgets and this has pretty much everything... Bluetooth audio streaming, USB/Aux, Impressive satnav & map and a few other bits and pieces. iDrive took a few hours to use naturally but now its a doddle to use.

The Xenons are also very crisp at night which I like! Overall.. first class service from BMW Cardiff, hopefully will be the same story for as long as I have the car. Will update with a couple interior shots.

That looks BIG! I shall look out for it around Cardiff wink

I assume you mean Sytner, when you say BMW Cardiff. If so, so far I have found the Service Department excellent; so you should be well looked after.

Enjoy !
Admittedly its a lot larger than I thought, especially when its on my drive - in a huge showroom it doesn't look all that big. Still, fits the bill perfect!

Glad to hear that, I did mean Sytner. I had a bit a of a rubbish experience with them years ago with an old 4.4 E53 X5, but since then i've heard nothing but good things.

We live in the lovely welsh valleys ( Aberdare) but one of us are usually in Cardiff every weekend..so I have no doubt one of us in the house will skank the keys for this for the Cardiff duties!

Nice - not seen white on white (ok Ivory) so be interested to look at inside/outside pic
will get a few up tonight mate - its actually a really nice combo, although I did cack myself after I put the order on if it was the right choice. i'm the house hold valeter/detailer so I should be ok to keep on top of it but the drivers seat is definitely going to get grubby soon, I can just tell.

I did look at the coral red leather in the showroom on their 435, but it made the car feel a bit 'Gloomy' so I opted out.

First week with the car has been a good one. It hasn't travelled far but i'm finding any excuse to give my R32 a rest so I can waft about in this, despite some people taking a dislike to the standard runflats that come with new BMW's I find them surprisingly very comfortable and road noise is next to zero.

In response to above, we needed a cheaper run around ( so to speak ) which meant a nice 4 cylinder diesel. The need for a big six just wouldn't be needed and would be over kill for what we need the car for... if anything is a V6 or V8 with us it would always be petrol.

Interior shots (the leather looks quite beige here but in person its a lot whiter - like an off white. :

Pillar-less doors on both front and rear to keep with the 'coupe lines' really are quite cool - especially on the rear as its just unusual opening a rear door with no frame:

And regarding the exhaust tips - if you notice BMW exhaust tips that much then you will know that the bigger '35 engines have dual exhausts because their the flagship engines other than the M's.. which means the 4 cylinders and the '30 engines will share the same tips seen as their not the flagship lines. Besides, a single exhaust on such a big bodied car would just look like a pea shooter. I don't see the problem and personally think they look great.

I've got the 19" Bridgestones on my 328i F31, and they're noisy. They are 60% worn, so this may be something to do with it?
They do get very noisy when worn or close to needing changing from my experience.
I found this with my MK5 Golf GTI.

They'll be changed after the winter rubber comes off.....and that's a whole new thread biggrin
Id assume the bigger 19'' wheel/tyre and the 60% wear down would play a big factor.. at least compared to my 18s which are brand spankers. I will however bear this in mind.

I noticed someone above mention they have or had Conti's... I have had an utter crap experience with these on my Transporter Sportline - they come as standard on these vans on the 18s and they lasted no more than 6k miles..im now on Goodyear Eagle F1's and they've done 12k no problem. granted these were not runflat so not directly comparable.

Eitherway, when the tyres are ready for change, I will be sticking to traditional rubber such as Pilot Sport 3's / SuperSports / Eagle F1s. stick to what you know and all that!

Irfan im on Mitchelin 3 the difference is amazing
I run pilot sport 3's on my standard MK5 R32 wheels - 225/45/18 - and their the best overall tyre ive ever used. the wet grip being amazing. The car is currently on 19'' BBS wheels, so ive opted for slightly cheaper Goodyear Eagle F1's 225/35/19 - still a cracking tyre though. wouldn't hesistate to put either on the 4 series once the time comes...which hopefully should be thousands of miles away yet!

Just out of curiosity what can I expect miles wise out of these runflats with everyday, normal driving as an estimation?
