Bought my e92 335 a year ago for 14500 from main dealer. Negotiated down from 16000 price seemed about right compared to others on the market. I've done 6000 miles in it and I'm getting webuyanycar and glass valuations of 8500 maximum trade in value. That's a minimum loss of 6k in a year on a 57 plate motor in good spec and colour combo etc. my previous Audi a3 was lower spec and newer with a similar initial purchase price from main dealer and I only lost 4k on it over 3 years. Thought the bmw would fare much better than thatfrown probably won't be going for a f31 330d now as the difference in price is huge.

Don't get me wrong I expect to take a loss buying then selling back to trade. But my a3 costing me 4k over 3 years when it was a much newer car bought and sold in the same way....I wouldn't have expected the bmw to depreciate as much as that even.

The trouble with private selling is that it leaves you without a car? I would happily buy my next one private, seen some great deals on s3 sportbacks, but I can't buy when my money is tied up in current car, and i can't sell mine without having another or I will be careless.

True I am basing it on that as it was the same as the best offer I could get out of quite a few dealers that I tried. As someone said though, maybe less accurate on a performance motor. Thanks for the link, I will try them.

Yes great car but incredibly impractical. Lot of room in it but as it's a coupe you only have the letterbox size boot opening to get things in through. Hoping s3 sportback is better, kind of like a mini estate. Had a 1 series hatch as a courtesy car and although hideous it had tons of room with the seats down. Birds offered £9800 but deducted 500 for 2 x tiny kerb marks and a small scuff on the front bumper.
