Hi,

I am looking to find a tuner with experience of mapping a 325I (N53B30) after I have fitted a 3 stage manifold giving the same hardware as a 330i.

Has anyone done this? Any recommendations of tuners?

thanks

Will

Try bwchiptune. Not used them, just seen people recommending them.
Thanks for the response! I have contacted BWchiptune and they hadn't done this before would want the car for 2-3 days, Ive also contact the Mosselman UK agent I they don't have a rolling road..

Really hoping to find someone with direct experience of doing this and therefore the confidence to do the mapping....

At the moment Im also considering a DME swap as swap as alternative, but I can't find any information relating to intiallizing the ECU to work EWS and CAS... Which is really easy on the E46 M3...

I've not done this, but read a lot about it and it's more involving than just a remap and inlet manifold.

General consensus was to just go and buy a 330i. You will pile loads of money into it and struggle to get it anywhere near the 272bhp you want and it run like a pig.

Unfortunately its not as easy as go buy another one as there were only 10 or so E91's 330i registered in 2010, never mind colour and spec which I love on my car...

I've investigated it a alot and hardware wise its just a manifold. What is pointing you to think its more complicated on the hardware front?

My understanding is that there are problem when ppl apply a 330I map to the to 325i ecu, hence why I'm trying to find someone with experience.

The tuning has been done by successfully by Mosselman and several German tuners:

Budvlad on e90 post successfully had this done after lots of bad tuners (in Germany):

If you have some further information I'd welcome it?

The 2 N52 specialists are Evolve and P-Torque - not sure about the 3-series but my 125i was cheaply upgradable to 130i power via a simple remap as the hardware is 100% identical (unlike the US only 128i that doesn't have the same manifold).

If that doesn't apply to the 3-series equivalents, I wouldn't bother as cheaper to get a 330i.
Sadly this is the N53 engine not the N52 and I contacted Evolve and they haven't work on N53. The 125 has the manifold and everything bar the tune.. I'm now in the same state as you but need a Tuner who can do N53...

I think the major problem is our American cousins didn't get the N53, and as tuning is either done on a bigger scale out there or for there market the N53 is neglected...

I really hope I don't have to drive to Germany to get this done but as Ill probably change the DME, CAS, EWS and Locks plus program it in NCS expert but this really is a pain I want to avoid.....

BTW: Has anyone changed a DME and resychnonized the EWS and CAS on this platform? If you have please let me know...

Have you searched on e90post as I'm sure there is someone over there has done it.
Yes thanks, I found one person in Germany who has done it on E90 post, I made reference to it in my earlier post.

Oh OK tbh thought there were more folks than that. AFAIK it's the 3 stage manifold that's needed plus the tune. Am sure I read somewhere that the tune can be put onto the existing DME.

On hols at the moment but will try and find it later.
Thanks ;-) have a good holiday! I have the manifold in my sticky mitts already...

I have contacted DS motorsport to see if they can offer a remote tune... waiting to hear back...

No one seems to have used Mosselmans UK agent and as they haven't got a rolling road and they obviously are just an agent for the map + no references to talk to... so a little scared about support...

I've done it DIY style.. you need a 330i inlet manifold with 2 diss valves and a tune. I got mine from maptech in Lincs which I think is the same as the promap map.

In all honesty the tune will give you 260bhp as the throttle valve opening is the limiting factor with the n53b30 low output engine.. i.e. They limit the throttle opening to 70%.

Let me know if you have questions?

Worth decoking the inlet when you have it off..
