320d/330d vs 520d/530d MPG

Just wondering what MPG people are getting in their 320/330d's and 520/530d's.

Just putting a shortlist together for the new (used) car I'm looking for, and need to work out what will work out reasonable.

The 330d appears to be the best bet, I am just mindful that my current E90 LCI M Sport is a group 23 insurance, with the 330d being mid 30's.

How much of a pocket dent is the difference?

Looking at insurance and running costs the 3 litre engines may not be affordable for me at the moment. Wanting to test drive the F30 and F10 2 litre diesel engines within the next week or so.

Some interesting replies, I appreciate them all.

Insurance company have stated that to change from my E90 318D M Sport to the models below would look like this in terms of cost:

• 320D (SE) +£50 per year
• 330D (SE) +230 per year
• 530D (M) + £200 per year

Need to work out what I can afford, and the 520D is also a good option.

Going to look at a 2012 320D and a 2012 520D tomorrow, still wanting to have a drive of a 530D before I decide however......

So I drove the 520d today, not what you would call "slow", but I worry that I would find myself getting bored very quickly. I have worked out my budget is in and around the £12k mark, so with a £6-7k trade in on my current car, I may need to have a rethink about what estate I go for.

The other half hates them but there is still the Octavia VRS...
