Extending warranty on F30 320d
Discussion
My parents have a 2012 F30 320d that is about to expire its dealer warranty. They are fairly light users (<5k every year) and my immediate thought is that they should not extend it.
Before I advise them to do just that - are there any major / known faults with the model that they should be aware of? Bearings, turbos, things like that? From memory it has around 40k on the clock.
FWIW, it is £608 with no excess or £328 with a £250 excess. Only fault since getting the car has been a front window regulator.

I don't know of any faults, but for example I had a 335i which is a model with quite a lot of known faults and yet never had any problems when I extended the warranty!!!Before I advise them to do just that - are there any major / known faults with the model that they should be aware of? The reasons I chose a warranty were:-
My finances find it easier to 'lose' a fixed cost p/m than suddenly have to fork up for a larger bill. And it would be a larger bill as I would be going to main dealer anyway, as there isn't a convenient indy I like.
The price includes a fantastic emergency/recovery package, I've used them before, which I would have to fork out for anyway, through the usual companies
Isn't there a 100£ excess option with emergency cover?
I've just extended the BMW warranty on my F31 328i. It's currently on 34k. It seems to be that under 60k it's a set amount. In my case I'm paying £507 pa with a £100 Excess.
The only fault I've had in the first three years was a catalytic converter that needed replacing.
5k a year on a diesel is very low mileage if it's lots of short trips.
