I'm interested in purchasing a BMW used approved 1 series, having rung with the dealer, it is a two owner vehicle, the second being 'BMW Purchase'.

The dealer wasn't sure in which circumstance BMW would buy the car. It was owned between March and July 16 by BMW Purchase and covered 300 miles during their tenure before the BMW dealer who have it now took it on.

The car was first registered in Feb 13 and so may have been on a 36 month lease deal, given it was sold to BMW in March 16.

In what circumstance would BMW appear as a previous owner and would you have any concerns come resale time?

Thanks for your responses.

I'm planning to test drive the car Saturday if it's still available so will push for further information then.

I'm a little fuzzy on registered keeper vs registered owner so will look for clarification on which BMW Purchase actually were.

The cynical miserable bd in me says that it's a lemon with major issues which ended up rejected by the first owner leading to BMW UK agreeing to buy it back...to sell on to the next unsuspecting victim/customer. Unlikely though but you never know, I've seen all kinds of trash sold as "approved used".

It's worth asking the question directly to the salesman (via email preferably) if the car was rejected previously, so at least you have some come back.
The fact it had a full 36 months of ownership beforehand suggests to me it did a lease term but your point is valid
