I've just purchased an E46 330Ci with Pro Nav (I think it's Mk4) - it has the DVD unit in the boot under the multichanger which looks like this (not my photo):

I've had a look through the unit and it's running the following firmware (these are my pics!):

The disc in the Nav DVD is probably the original:

Am I right in thinking that I should be able to update to V32 of the firmware (which I think is 4-1/00?) and use a newer 'High' Europe DVD for the later maps etc? I know there are certain pre-reqs to the update like the driver's door must stay open.

Just want to check before doing anything, have I understood things correctly?

I just updated my E46 M3, got the discs (firmware and latest maps) from a chap online (M3 cutters) as I don't have the facility to burn a disc so that was easy/lazy alternative.

The disc (2004) I had looks like yours in the picture.

It took a matter of minutes, I kept the engine running. I have the instructions on PDF if you want to pm/email me?

There was nothing about door being left open though it probably was biggrin
That'd be great! Could you ping me through my profile?

I got the stock software from here: http://e39source.com/archives/797

I've also acquired a copy of the 2016 map.

I've also got the same issue and need to update mine, although I think it has been done before as has the 'M' splash screen but does have a habit of crashing if there are too many traffic messages being downloaded.

Funk, where did you get the 2016 map disc?

Cheers
I've just tried to email you through the site but it's having issues - I'll try again later...
