Discussion
I hear you.... perhaps you should review the thread you started about the Porsche Macan S....
It's "petrol demonstrator" not "demonstrater"....
I am chilled too... but you are the smart ass... glass ceilings and all that jazz... I normally don't care about the pettiness of your correction but PH seems to be full of this new breed of self righteous species that bring nothing relevant to the discussion that I chose to comment.
For future reference as frustrated you may be with any spelling mistakes please make sure you don't make any of your own as if you do, you come across as a bit of a prick... mind I am not calling you a prick but if was set to point out a spelling mistake I would need to be sure I wouldn't be making that mistake myself.

Sorry Paul. I got distracted.
I may give the Pirellis a shot. We have them on another car as well but not a BMW and they do lack a bit of grip but I have a feeling it's more due to the aforementioned car. Do you have 19 inch wheels? 255s on the rear?
The Bridgestones are ok but are just not confidence inspiring. I would prefer Michelins but no run flats so a bit limited by choice I guess.

Exact same spec as mine. Adaptive suspension makes the run flats quite comfortable for the setup we have. Thanks for shared experience. Next time I will go with Pirellis seems to be a better shout than the Bridgestone I have now.
A bit off topic have you thought about fitting the MPK (remap and exhaust?) I am tempted but at the same time performance is adequate as it is. I do 15-20k a year a it's just right!

It's crossed my mind to fit it , but as you say , it's fast enough anyway , I've also got a slc 43amg that's a bit faster than the BMW , not much mind !
Last year I drove mine to the ring , didn't do any laps as it was far to busy , then onto the Dordogne then down to San Sebastián . It was really comfortable , returned about 33 mpg according to the obc and was more than quick enough on a very busy autobahn , no chance to see if the limiter works ! It also proved to be real world fast when travelling with a v8 m3 , there really wasn't anything between them on the long straight 2 lane road back from Biarritz to Dordogne when over taking the trucks , nail it from 50mph and it's up to well over a hundred quicker than I thought , which was handy as the trucks use this route too .
Seems a fun trip. Yes for me for everyday car do it all it's just perfect. I don't mind the mpg much even doing 20k a year it's just much nicer than other diesels I had. Goodyears are good as well. Will try the Pirellis first though.
Yes, I thought that... mine have a load index of 92 not 96 so don't feel to rigid.
I need to clarify with BMW UK and my insurance if using non RFT would invalidate my warranty or insurance. Any experience with that?
I can't see why it would but they may say RFT are safer so in effect I would modify my car by fitting tyres that are not as safe on a blow out.
I would prefer the non run flat as there are better choices of tyre but until I get the green light in writing from both I will keep the run flats going.

No, mine didn't have non RFT as an option. It is annoying you can't just fit the tires you want these days. In 20 years of driving I had only one puncture so not that worried about a puncture. I know the evidence shows RFT can be safer on a blow out but how many people have blow outs? I always have them jnflatwd to correct pressures, in good condition and from quality brands so I should be OK. One think I don't save is tires... contact patch with the roads I want the best I can afford.

Bridgestone RFTs, 340iT, adaptive suspension, 19's.
Bearable, but they still thump through potholes (of which there are a million - i live in Gloucestershire!) so i am also considering ditching the RFT's and simply keeping them in the loft until i part-ex the car.
And someone mentioned blowouts? A runflat can still blow out (i.e. catastrophic sudden loss of pressure and tyre integrity) which renders it as useless as a non-runflat blowout.
don't tell me you went for estoril blue as well.. lolBearable, but they still thump through potholes (of which there are a million - i live in Gloucestershire!) so i am also considering ditching the RFT's and simply keeping them in the loft until i part-ex the car.

yes I am probably going to ditch rft if I can. like you said the bridgestones are ok but nothing exciting.
