I want to re-map my 335d, i know of the following companies.

DMS
CAA
E-maps
Chipped UK

who all offer re-maps, which im under the impression are all the same map? can someone confirm?

Adive on what maps are good, what are bad would be very helpful. What companies offer a higher state of tune and to what level?

For instance (im used to Cosworth YB's etc) Stage 1, 2 and 3. Are there such stages for tuning the 335d?

what power and torque for each stage and whats mods to get there?

I have heard of tuning boxes too, but believe this is not a good way of tuning as it tricks the ecu and fuel pump into thinking its not got enough pressure thus leading to failure. Please correct me if im wrong.

any help much appreciated

thanks

Carlos

As far as the remaps go, there is only one stage so to speak.. which will take it too roughly 340bhp and 500ftlb's

I'd use Simon at Emaps. No matter what you pay your essentially getting the same thing from all the mappes.
Sort of agree with the above in that currently there is just the remap route and not a lot else.

There are quite a few tuning companies who offer a remap but the most well known three are the ones you mention above apart from CAA using E-Maps I think.

As far as I know they aren't all the same map, they offer similar performance gains but part / full throttle set up could be and will be different, as well as fuelling / airflow etc.

I've ran a few different maps and am happiest with my latest one which is supplied by DMS. They cost a bit more but offer a guarantee, some people think the guarantee is worthless as they don't think they'll ever get a problem, but as there aren't that many 335d's about that have been running with a remap for a decent amount of miles (30-40k+) then how do you know? Also it's for piece of mind as most current owners will have spent between £30-40K for their P&J.

You pays your money and take your choice......or should that be chancewink

Jules.
So you are running the same map as you ran at FT? Can DMS offer a slightly more aggressive map for higher gains?
Does your car still pull hard to the redline ?

Who can tweak a generic map after ''re-mapping'' and at what cost!

Im sure a decent map will be fine running to 160mph daily. Well I would hope so. No point having a map leaning off top end. That would be a rubbish map. Surely guys over in germany will need a decent map as there Autobahns in places are unlimited.

well considering someone brought this up from 4 months ago, its best i update it!

Been mapped since

R/R 344bhp and 530 odd ib ft

Datron timed 0-60 5.4 and 0-100 12.5 and a standing quarter of 13.77@104 on the same run, have gone quicker before with a 13.5@105 standing quarter

not doubting any of those figures since its not that hard to get more power out of turbo'd engines...however not sure what the gearbox would say after a few aggressive starts, 1st 2nd gearchanges with 740Nm to handle... wobble
Even if it gave 500bhp it would still be a smelly uninteresting oil burner!
Still piss all over an E39 M5 as well. wink
What you mean is that it would probably pull away slightly in a straight drag race yes?

Give it some corners, or a personality test and it'd be a different story.
No, what i mean is a 335d with 368bhp will obliterate an E39 M5.smile Correct, the age comparison is unfair, an M5 does not handle anywhere near as good as a 335d with sport suspension, and the steering is so so at best.
Roofer shuld know, he has had both!

I assume the 335d is sluggish in standard tune?

(given everybody has either had it mapped or is planning to do so)

No not at all, the car is perfect stock, just responds to a re-map so well.

Carl, how many miles has yours done now? How many since the re-map? Do you increase the servicing frequency since the re-map?

Just interested how it's coping.

How many miles is it on now then?

I put a tuning box on my 325tds once I'd fitted new injectors, was on 132k then now approaching 145k with no problems since, just a bit more black smoke when flooring it.
loads now, done 21k on the re-map too.

What's the total mileage then? Do you have it serviced more often as a precaution?
Less than chippers miles. But it has Been worked very hard.

I have not serviced more frequently no.
