looking at old posts i really would love to try the 2 powerful petrol engines just to see how much better they go and sound compared to my 177bhp 120d auto.

I can imagine they sound great,my car sounds like a box of spanners on idle. i can also imagine the power is linear, with my car you hit the pedal hard nothing then woosh.Thing is with my tuning box i guess the power is 200bhp and 300lb torque. I am very pleased with it, i live in gloucestershire and work in london i need good mpg.

Today i did london to gloucestershire and back and i had some fun being like a puppy chasing legs on the m4. You can tell when people are trying and it was amazing what my little 1 series could deal with ie an alfa 3.2 gt no problem to name one ,a young kid on the A417 in a civic typeR desperately trying to see me off another.

The amazing thing for me for such a quick car is driving hard, i averaged 51 mpg.The problem with that sort of mpg is if i saw high 20s low 30s now id be mighty gutted . Its pretty much all id ever want, still not sure i get the looks though. So as i said i must pilot the petrols to see how they go ,and sound. To see if they really do deliver a much better driving experience for a lot less mpg.

Talking of aural delights a TVR 350i the square convertible one from about 15 years ago was next to me in the service stop that engine still sounded glorious for me it will allways be my favourite engine sound

Hi pete with the miles i do it has to be diesel ,actually the return part of that journey with no air con produced 56 mpg and on that journey no one was driving faster than me.

I have driven down the M4 for 15 miles at 55-60mph and on the OBC was 72mpg.So at the moment its a no brainer

.Have to say even at high speeds the cabin is very quiet.Have to say though in different circs. i propably would go for a petrol every time.
