Diesel tuning box or remap

I have bought a E90 320d with 48,000 miles.

I've changed from a 05 GTi and although the diesel pulls well, delivery isn't as smooth or doesn't seem as strong. So I am thinking of one of these tuning boxes...

Or considering a remap but not sure which to go for. The tuning box cheaper, but do they deliver what they promise inc MPG increase or likely to cause engine probs? any suggestions for other makes or advice?

Don't get me wrong the car seems to run ok, has full BMWFSH and isn't a slouch, maybe I'm expecting too much by comparing to the GTi. I am already enjoying the big cost savings and the car itself, which more than compensates.

DSM2, gona read bit on how the plugin's work *have rough idea) and check out Tunit as sound promising. Did the car return similar, less or more MPG with the Tunit mod?
