I have been offered a 2011 S1000RR Sport (from a dealer) for £9K, mint with only 1800 miles. I have only test ridden the 2012 model and I know a lot of small changes were made for the 2012 model but for a £5K discount against a new one would the changes be that noticeable?

I am a wuss (that's had a few offs) and it is the nannying aspects that appeal to me. I very much doubt I could tell the differences between the original and the new 2012 model, even back to back, it's not like the original was a crap bike, but as stated always keen to hear others views

The one I rode seemed flat from 1k-7k too, but I guess that's the price for big HP. The dealer told me the new bike has a much better mid range ?.
I've got one of the early 2010 models with the lighter flywheel (I think) and there's no hesitation lowdown at all. Its miles better than any of the R1s I've had There is a small flat spot at mid revs but nothing that's exactly holding the bike back.
Loon, I have on 04 R1 at the moment (which will be traded in if I go ahead) sounds like a no brainer to change?

Sad as it is, the one thing that appealed most about all the 2012 changes was the fact you could add heated grips as an option.
laugh I had my test ride early last Saturday, it was chilly and the heated grips were great, it's an age thing I think smile

I have had a GSXR 1000 K9 (see the BB crashing thread!) don't like the looks of the new R1 or Blade and the Kwak/RSV are too small for me (I am a lardy 6' 2") the only other one I have tried recently is the RC8R which I didnt really gel with, probably a twin thing though rather than the bike, and I will be honest it is the electronic 'safety' aids that do appeal to me and BN's recent excursion only re-inforces that

No, its just a toy although bright/dry days I will go out as long as the roads haven't been treated. I am unusual in that I have a TVR S3 that gets used more in the winter (again when dry) than in the summer, which reminds me next job is to get the chassis on that ACF50'd

Very nice and rare! You would get a good wedge for a lot less than a good Griff, Griff is one sexy piece of kit though, mate took out a T350 out today but is undecided as serious money

Good man. Motorsport the fastest colour? What mods planned?
None at the moment, I am st out of cash biggrin but.........

possibly a DB screen (zero gravity) as I am 6' 2" but seems Ok with the std screen at the moment so not sure.

Replace the can, but think I will leave the cat as is, looking at all sorts but Austin Racing slip-on GP ultimate (looks like Racefit Growler) looks nice and good value, Akra and Yoshi etc are bloody expensive!

Rear seat cowl, probably the first thing I will do

Oh and I do like the look of those Limberger lower fairings that cover the cat

But at the moment I am still comprehending the ability of the bike and chuckling to myself at how awesome the acceleration and brakes are :-)

What do you recommend?

No idea what the best rubber is mind you, it seems to depend on what you read and how they feel for you, it is still on the std Metzeler Racetecs K3's, i have never used them before but they do seem to be very good in the 60 miles I have done so far and look like they have taken some punishment already and still 500 - 1000 miles left in them I reckon

Me neither, I've used a couple of sets of Rosso Corsa's and they seem very good. Have you run the bike in slick mode yet ?.
Not unlocked it yet, got the red plug but have been advised not to by local Motorrad as unless ridden hard all the time it causes problems like oiling the plugs!?!?
