If you do, and follow the recent trend of sliding your bike down the road, can I have first offer of an ABS Pump?

Seriously - they are more expensive to replace than I thought, and the wifes bike has decided to stop working, and servicing the rear brakes (front still working).

If anyone hears of one going, or being broken, then let me know please. Is this part (16082).

Hi, check out the UK versys forum, everyone is very friendly and I pretty sure the parts are interchangeable.

Never heard of an ABS failure before, how old is the bike?
Is a 2008 bike - from a quick google search today, appears quite a common fault!

Good idea re the versys - will take a look......

I own a 2008 ER6F - you've scared me hehe

No help to you though, sorry.
I'm not going to say it - but if you do - you know - wink. Let me know!!!

I found this - but looks like parts changed on the 2009 model:-

Just to give you an idea why I am not buying new and to show why I think different parts.

2006/7/8 part :

2009/10/11 part :

For now I am going to bypass the abs unit for the rear brake, and leave just the front through the ABS, and remove the lamp for the abs sensor for the MOT. Will buy some time to find the part.

How much yikes

Surely there must be a cheaper way to get hold of one of these.
If you know how - let me know please!! smile

I have actually found the part new for around £850, but don't want to spend that either on a bike that is only worth a couple of grand.

To answer the questions above:-

1) What is wrong with it? Cannot get any fluid to move that is going through the ABS Pump for the rear brake. Remove the lines (both ends) and fluid moves fine.

2) Can you remove the rear pump and keep the front? No - it is a single unit for both.

3) Can you get a refurbed unit? I have been looking but no idea.

4) Can you keep the front running on ABS, and have the rear as manual? That was the original plan - however having spoken to Kawasaki, and my mechanic, they believe this is a risky strategy. They believe as the pump has failed on the rear brakes, and is controlled using the same diaphragm, it could fail at any time with no warning.

5) Could I could remove the unit and revert it to a non-ABS bike? Certainly could, and it has been considered - will not make a great deal of difference to the resell value, and I would just have to inform insurer that it is now a non-abs model.

If it was my bike I would probably take the risk - and run just on the front, but as it is the wifes, I have decided that I can't do that.

I have taken a punt on the part I listed above on Ebay from Holland, and hopefully will fix the issue. If it does not, then it is £200 down the drain, and I will revert it to a non-abs model.

Anyone with an ER6F - keep it safe out there, I don't want to have wasted £200 when I could have done a deal with you if you slide it down the road in the coming weeks! wink

I'm still around - just not quite as vocal these days in this forum as have moved abroad, and do not have a bike yet.

To answer your question, the 2009 part did work. However after fitting we could never get the ABS light to go out on the dash. It was intermittent, but for some reason it would not always go off after the pre-engine checks. The brakes themselves worked perfectly though, and ABS functioned as expected.

Cheers! That's useful info, will hopefully go the same route and find a replacement on ebay smile
A bit more info - this is obviously a fairly common fault as my mechanic has directed two other customers my way to assist in sourcing a part (he is not great at Ebay and IT in general), and I have found all parts on foreign Ebay sites, I got mine from Holland, another from Germany, and another from France.

So search the European Ebay sites as well.
