Probably a bit of confidence building. I dont think anyone actually does it thinking its going to warm their tyres. It sounds like hes just borrowed the bike from the way hes speaking

I don't think it's hard to ride as fast as he did,most of us who have moderate experience can press on like this.

But I'm getting old these days and can't be arsed with the bans,ending up in a hedge or over a car bonnet anymore really.

What I thought was worth the risk back when I was 16-21 are very different these days.
