Totally new circuit for the calendar, and it doesn't look too bad. No mickey-mouse chicanes, decent straight, and a few long "steady state" corners. What I think is certain, considering it's a new track to all the riders, is that MM will adapt quickly and go well (as per Austin last year) and Rossi will probably struggle based on his dislike of "new" circuits.

a couple more layout pics -

Good find. Turn 6 looks interesting; a steadily accelerating downhill left-hander.

The comparisons to Spencer are spot on, he could turn up at a track he'd never seen before and smash the track record within a couple of laps and Marquez is the same.
I never knew MM had been compared to Freddie, unless we're talking the age / win ratio? Not that I care, as I enjoy watching Marc with his aggressive flamboyancy as much as I enjoyed watching Freddie and his immaculate smoothness and lines.

Anyway.

FP2, and MM over one second ahead of Dani in second??!! I knew (as I mentioned previously) that Marc would be strong on a new circuit, but Christ Almighty yikes and I thought the nature of the track would favour the Yams.

OK. For me ATM, the podium is:

Marc
Dani
Brad

So, for the last season and a half we've seen MM breaking records - including most of Freddie Spencer's (which I never thought I'd see in my lifetime).

IIRC it was 1995 when Micky D won 15 out of 16 races.

I wonder if that one will go this year scratchchin
