What. A. Day. As in, one of the best days of my life good.

Awesome weather, great instruction, only 12 people on a track at a time. ABSOLUTELY MEGA.

The format was standard track day with novice, inters, and fast except there were fewer people on the whole day than you usually get in one group. Each group had a dedicated instructor in the morning, then in the afternoon two went out with each group (Howie, Linfoot and Whitham) who basically buzzed around the track looking at what you were doing, following and leading people round.

At the end of the session you all come in and stand in the pitlane and your instructor kinda goes round saying 'you were doing this, you were doing that, do this and do that, you two need to follow me next session' etc etc. If you've got an ego and think you're an undiscovered WSBK champ, it's not for you - they are brutally honest, but in a very constructive way. If they've followed you specifically you get really detailed feedback.

I can't even begin to describe how much my riding improved. Physically, I was trying less than I have ever had and going way faster than ever before.

£180 would be worth basically having the track to yourself all day, the fact that kind of instruction comes with it is barely believable. I can't recommend it enough - there's another one in September: get booked.

Oh and in some thread-crossing, the fast group (as usual) were FAST, really not mucking about, and I watched Dan Linfoot out-brake one of them into the hairpin while doing a 'follow me' tail tap. Incredible.

The funny as fk moment was near the end when one of the instructors, (or perhaps two of them mucking about) was close to another rider and they had swapped around a couple of times, (fast group) and coming over the hill the one in front got it wrong, I think from the front lifting over the crest, putting his front wheel in the wrong place when he needed to be getting the bike left, braked way too hard in an oh st moment and did a more than significant stoppie still whilst then trying to get the bike left, before the off camber right, just before the pit entrance. It could have been nasty but was funny.
I don't think that was the fast group - I think that was Inters. I'd been following Dan Linfoot for a lap or two and Whitham came past us on the back straight in a wheelie and Dan went after him.

I pulled into the pits just after them at the end of the session and Dan was saying to Whitham: "F*cking hell, you've still got it, Jamie!"
