VFR 750 S/Stand problem

Right I completely forgot to update this

Unfortunately it wasn't a tale of my laces trapped or me being stuck or any other such delight.

Here goes..

My 93 VFR has already eaten one side stand and is currently making the used one I replaced it with look like it's going the same way.

The issue is where the top part of the stand (in it's extended position) meets the SS bracket, it wears the material on both the stand and the bracket to the point there is no longer a stop position as such and the bike falls over. That is a slow process however and leans further and further over time.

Now hoping I can avoid a repeat of what happened before and I know a few have owned them on here so my question is have any of you experienced this? If so how did you get around it?
Is there an upgrade or a stand of another bike that'll fit/work better.

I've done a fair amount of googling and haven't been able to get any hits on the same issue as mine.

Also Vincefox if you see this may be best to check your one out! (and whilst your at it if you can send me that reg/rec upgrade you did via PM that'd be great)

Now I can't say for certain that isn't the case however it doesn't seem like that.

I always push the stand so to speak and don't tend to let it snap into place letting the springs do the work.

Also having seen a few side stands of bikes being broken on ebay (same model) they all seem to suffer from similar wear.

That to me suggests an issue with the stand but I can't bloody find any info about it!

I'll be certain to give it a quick clean and a grease anyway just go be on the safe side

Exactly, however trying to find out exactly which of the two and what I can do to prevent it is the solw basis of this thread

It's not gone so well so far.

May just have to say bks to it and start leaning the bike against walls when I stop!

It's worth checking but I do know the 94-97 bikes had a different bracket (unsure about the side stand itself).

The whole mounting and shape etc of it dictates that it won't fit!

Should have mentioned I've already been down that road.

It's annoying as I surely cannot be the only one to comw across this?

It does indeed unbolt and it is something I've considered, however at current I only have the side stand on the bike as my centre stand broke and the correct pin for my paddock stand hasn't arrived yet!

It also looks like by welding and building it up its going to be a long difficult process due to the shapes involved.

I'm glad it's not just my bike that has done this! What bike is it that it is happened to on yours?

Aye, having either a st load of skill or a st load of good equipment is a good start.

I have access to a mig and I've done a fair bit but nothing as technical as that.
