I know a few people who have been given a £100 fine lately.

One lad in particular got a warning about 2 months ago, he didn't take the warning and just used the same plate. Maybe a month later he got stopped again and given a fine. Fair enough I suppose. He has put a std plate on now which looks bloody stupid and covers his exhaust. Which is why he left it as it was in the first place.

Anyway when he rang up to pay the fine he got told he doesn't have to pay.

So why not ? Copper messed up the paperwork or something ?

How does a plate cover his exhaust?
I suspect because he has a tail tidy on! My bike with a tail tidy and standard plate covers both my exhausts which is why I leave it all standard.
Same as /\

It's doesn't cover them fully just a little bit on each one.

So you modify your bike so a standard plate doesn't fit, then get fined when you fit a smaller plate ?

Good !

What is the bloody point ?
The bike already had the smaller plate on when he bought it.
