Its time to paint the track bike, I have track fairings, the tank is going to be grey but everything else can be painted. I might get that done to match as well.
what would go best?
Id like to have two colours.
The actual reason for this topic is to ask the best way to prep, paint and finish track fairings.

so has anyone used this.
The fairings are used and a fking horrible green colour.
I wanted to sticker it up with cool ramones and duff beer stickers.
TO give it that authentic st look.

yes I have and it is awesome stuff, as said spray on and get a nice coat then if you don't like it you can just peel it off like vinyl! It all comes with a matt finish though so if you want it shiny you will need a glossifier.so has anyone used this.

Saying that if you spray normal paint with rattle cans you won't get a very good gloss anyway due to the larger area.
how many coats
did you do it using a rattle can?

Don't underestimate how long it takes to sand all the fairings. I stupidly thought I'd do mine as I like doing as much as possible myself on the bike. Took me over a week to do 2 sets and made me wish I'd just paid the painters a little bit more to do it.
Should look good though. Are you doing the wheels in silver to match?
Am I fk. Aslong as it isn't green anymore then that's all that I care about.Should look good though. Are you doing the wheels in silver to match?
If it looks ok from 20 meters at 100mph that will do for me

You should have kept the middle section the same colour as the tank and just got protectors to cover the dent in the tank.
Would have saved a lot of hassle.
I presume you are putting clear coat over the top of it?
I have, silver/grey for the centre, blue for the green bits. Would have saved a lot of hassle.

A tip if you are masking colour to colour, buy some Tamiya model masking tape. You should be able to get it from ebay in different widths, max is 10mm if I remember right. Just use that for the edge and use the cheap ste onto that. It gives a good, sharp edge.
Also, peel it whilst the paint is wet and back onto itself, slightly in the direction of the mask.
I did this tank with rattle cans ...

I know for £20 its not going to look great, but it will look a hell of a lot better than it does just now. It only has to look ok in a photo from a distance whilst traveling at speed.
Id wait until the summer to do it correctly if I cared, now wait id pay a pro. But I don't.
The fairings cost £60. They have the worlds worst rattle job just now.
