Mrs Powerstans has passed her MOD 2 and started to look for her first big bike, well having started with the usual culprits of Fazer etc she has suddenly upped her budget and is going to test ride a mark 1 street tripple (It looks really nice in red apparently!!!).

Having looked quickly at autotrader it appears I can get private sale 2007 to 2009 models with 10K on the clock for £3,500, usually with history and some parts, trade seems steeper as £4,000 plus with 20K on the clock for a 2009 model appearing nearer the norm.

Well what to look out for apart from the usual HPI check, crash damage and finance checks?

Also is £3,500 relistic, as I remember in 2007 the street was circa £5,000. This means about £1,500 (plus extras) depreciation over 5 to 7 years. That would suggest £3,500 is actually good residual for a bike.

Cheers

ACF Autumnal coat awaiting to be applied to my CB1300 so I know who will be cleaning and treating Mrs Powerstans at the same time.

Rectifier recall and watch out for the dreaded pitting then.

Any one know how much the valve clearance service is as lots of bikes at about 10k to 12k milage up for sale!

Mckean thanks for the offer, Mrs Powerstans is test riding one from a dealers at the weekend to check the ride is as good as the looks, so may come back to you after that, cheers.

I can see my ACF50 purchasing is going to go through the roof, still she has already said I can ride it if she gets it, which will be a nice contrast to my CB1300.

Now all I need to do is sell the Westfield in the spring and look for a project bike!!!!
