Not sure of the point to this thread, just want to inform the world of my impending death..

I have just part-ex'd my 2012 Ducati Streetfighter 848 for a 2013 Brutale 1078RR. I loved the SF but having had it for a couple of years I decided it was time for a change.

I wasn't looking for a MV but spotted the 1078RR, had a go and fell in love with the power and ride quality. The bike had 1000 miles on it and was priced to sell so I snapped it up.

I'm told its got the race ECU to match the HP Corse exhaust and is running around the 170 bhp mark, I'd love to dyno it and gets its true figures but it can't be much off this. The things an animal. I've still not managed to get it about 10k as in first to third it lifts the front and the speed is approaching prison-able levels!

I've got a steering dampener on order from MV as I've noticed it likes to shake its head as the front goes light, hopefully the dampener will sort that.

Anyone else had or ridden a Brutale? It truly is a bonkers bike! I love it even if it will probably end in my death!

Cheers chaps, it certainly is fun. I've never ridden anything like it.

You may have seen my post about the exhaust - To baffle or not to baffle. Without them it's loud, hear me from half a mile away loud!!! I've stuck the baffle in for now. I kind of hope it falls out so i can't use it!

I've also got a couple of bits of carbon ordered from MV. I suspect the carbon swingarm cover will be stiffy inducing!

I think they are Moto Corse if memory serves.

Bit miffed with the boot scratches on the mounts but the swingarm cover will hide the other side and I'm looking at options for the side shown.

Wish 2230 would hurry up, first night time ride on a Sunday when everyones in bed! Tempted to wip the baffles out and stop when i get near home to put them back in!!! I'm pretty sure she'll flame out the pipe on overun!

It has to be said, whilst my SF was modern and felt '2012' the MV is definitely older, it even has a choke! That said the ride is probably better than the SF, I've not really ridden it hard enough yet whilst i get used to it.

For me its by far the most powerful bike I've ridden, the 132 bhp SF was quick but the MV is on another scale of power, it's breath taking under acceleration. I filmed my ride home and sent a copy to my brother. He phoned and commented on how effortlessly it puts on speed. I won't go into it on an open forum but the speeds I managed, albeit inadvertently in a xx were not funny. Just open the gas off a junction and instantly your in court!

The difference between the 1078 and 1090 is computers basically. The 1090 is the same engine but it's a more modern bike. My 1078 has no traction control etc. I looked at the 1090 but couldn't justify spending 14.5k on a new one. The reason is below!

My bike had 996 miles on the clock, one owner. It has the full HP system, race ecu, rear sets, rad covers, light cover, quick shifter and tank bags all with the deal. Plus original exhaust and other parts. I picked it up for £8,325 which considering it was around the £16k mark new (with bits) I couldn't say no. The previous owner knew the dealership owner and swapped the brutale for a f4 rr. The dealer didn't have much in the bike so was happy to take my 3000 mile ducati streetfighter 848 for what was basically a swap.

I've now covered 400 miles this week and I'm getting used to the brutale. The pull in all gears is tremendous!! Second gear is utterly mind blowing, it'll lift the front at three figure speeds and just pull until I give up.

I've run it with the baffles in and there is a noticeable difference in how it runs. Without it breaths free and runs much smoother, it's just a shame it sounds so loud. I'm totally addicted to the overrun, I just hope they weren't lying about it being setup for the exhaust as it pops and bangs lots! I will mount my drift pointing towards the exhaust at some point to catch the inevitable flames!!!

I certainly don't regret swapping a modern 'digital' ducati for what is basically an analogue bike. It even has a choke!!! Brutal, crazy motorcycling. I love it. If anyone was down Loomies this afternoon they will have heard me leave..........
