After much fannying about, thinking about Fireblades, Gsxr 750's and streets I've stuck with what I know and bought another Triumph.
Went to see a street R on Sunday, Mckeens from here. So I pick it up when he gets the MOT sorted and washes the fking thing. I did go to my local Honda dealer waited 20 minutes before a guy approached me (it was dead), I rocked up on a 17 year old ninja and he looked down his nose at me, he couldn't be arsed with me when I said I was interested in them. I pretty much thought, fk you ill take my £12k and go elsewhere.
so that's a Daytona 675 for the track,
A zx6r as a sort of back up everyday bike,
and the street for the weekends.
Handy that my Dad also has a Daytona and a Street, its always good to have a working built up model when yours is broken, or to steal parts after crashing one, plus one service manual does all 4. Also all my Triumph alpinestars stuff matches.

Is the "character" of your Daytona and the new Street being the same one of the attractions? I would have thought you would have wanted something different.
Love the Daytona but I couldn't have another for the road.the street is the better road bike, I looked at litre bikes but decided against them. 600 naked will keep the speeds down and is fun. Its completely different from what ive owned which has mainly been sports bikes. Just after something fun to trundle about on the roads

Should have bought a blade. Just FYI, some salesmen will let you look around and sit on bikes if you fancy kicking about. But they also respond well to 'Hello, I'd like to buy a Fireblade', if you went up to talk to them.
It was when he looked out the window at my ninja, instantly after he wasn't bothered. I'll run it 6 months if I don't love the street ill flog it get a blade.

Lovely. I really need to get a tail tidy for mine.
Someone down the road from me is selling a Skoda like your model for £750 - want me to put an offer in for you to complete your obviously dream garage?

I have the remapped Taxi already. Its a beast! Its actually "quite" quick, certainly very little troubles it on the road.

Great choice. I've seriously considered a Street Triple R for the road. I just wouldn't use it enough.
By the way - Oulton Park open Pitlane next month is only £79 if you fancy it!
might take you up on that I have loads of days to take so might just go for that seeing as its so cheap. Still need to get the Daytona back together right enough. By the way - Oulton Park open Pitlane next month is only £79 if you fancy it!

Get it booked! 18th of November with MSV. Worst trackday organiser there is but it's cheap for Oulton. I need to get a baffle for the Triumph. Only just gets through at Cadwell.. Will never pass at Oulton.

It's more if it's snowing here I'll need to watch.
You have a car and a towbar - what's the issue!Remember I live in awck aye the noo land, when it snows here its semi decent stuff that you can build a snowman with.
So I picked it up last night, couldn't wait to get out on it today.
First thing I did was set the suspension up for my weight, all 11 stone of it. The previous owner was 16 stone so it was well out for me. I dialled in some settings I worked on from my Daytona, lubed the dry as a bone chain, checked the oil, pumped the tyres up and away I went.
I went my usual 100 odd mile run, it was freezing, raining, the roads were covered in mush from the leaves. Not a great day to go out but it was fantastic, its the first time I've enjoyed a run in ages. The suspension change made all the difference, it was so compliant, the brakes are so much better than the standard (the same as my Daytona). The low down grunt is superb, its just so easy to ride. Even just taking it easy was fun, its such a difference sense of speed, when I could see the speedo from the rain, id glance down thinking I was doing 50 round a corner and it was 70 odd. There is just no effort required to ride it at all.
I wasn't sure about a naked but I loved the upright riding position. It does become a big blowy above 120 but other than that it was a nice change from the sports bikes im used to.
The added bling of the asv, they feel great, like the old Avids I had on my mountain bike, I was going to steal them for the track bike but they are too nice to waste.
Now the noise, my fking God what a noise, it has the arrows on it and it is fantastic, I heard it a few streets away the other night as it was getting delivered by mckeann. The triple is a peach of and engine to start with vocally but fling in the Arrow system and it gives one of the best sounds out there. OH, OH, OH, lets not forget the noise from the quickshifter. I never fully understood the need for one on a road bike but my God this is the most frivolous must have modification to any bike. How did I live before without one of these.
It wasn't so much the smoothness, or the fact that I don't now need to come off the throttle and pull the clutch it was the fking noise. neeeeeeeeeeeeee, bah, neeeeeeeeeeee, bah, neeeeeeeeeeee. My God what a fking noise, I found myself purposely overtaking a car, smashing it through the gears then slowing down again to do the same to the next one. The sound is something like and old F1 car, its the first time I've rode without music, I just wanted to hear it. The only problem with it is that I found myself changing up all the way through the box on the straights to hear it then finding I was 3 or 4 gears too high for the corner and frantically having to come down the box. But still what a noise.
I went back out after lunch for a wee run, something id never do. Now the main reason for a naked was to stop me doing stupid speeds, if anything though this street has made me even more of a tit, it just so easy to fling it about. The run was going great until I flew past a hi-vis Volvo, fk I think as I look at the clock and its reading 3 figures.
Run, RUN AWAY................ Hide. Sure enough I seen it in my mirrors now coming after me, RUN, RUN, RUN AWAY....... Luckily I knew the area well, whoored it to the next roundabout then turned around.
As I came back on myself, I seen the plod and although I cant read lips the word bd is universally known by just lip and body movement.
I quickly raced away putting some traffic in between me and him and hid at my old work knowing they would never look there. Bloody place was shut so I hid behind some wheelie bins and had a fag until the coast was clear then took a nice photo.
On a whole I love it, the only fault I can find with it is the springs. Driving over a bump or pothole breaks your spine, its actually much worse than the Daytona for bumps. However I knew that would be the case as im too light for standard bikes. A shock change that but to be honest I can get it turned in so I can live with it.

where did you see the springs for £80?
I need a new rear at the least, I was bursting on a pee yesterday on the way home and I swear to God I nearly let go as the vibration was that fierce over bumps.

Does the Street Triple have the Ohlins TTX shock? If so I have a 9.5 spring for that you can have for £50 if it's any use.where did you see the springs for £80?
