R1 help?

I've got a 08 R1 engine in a kitcar.

It is due to being sold tomorrow, took it for one last drive today, and it suddenly started to make a nasty sound with the clutch

Basically when I'm engaging the clutch, I'm getting a nasty whirring/ light crunching sound?

The noise is coming from around the clutch area. Also notice what looks like oil leaking around the gear selector?
And the oil has gone rather black.

Does anyone have any ideas?

If the oil has suddenly gone very black, drain it and check for lumps/bits of clutch material - the noise sounds like the clutch plates are worn. Don't forget, the engine/clutch is designed to be driving a bike, rather than a (relatively speaking) heavy car.

It could be clutch plates, it's not slipping at all, the plates and steels were replaced around 3K miles ago, thought it would of lasted a little longer.

Looks like I'm going to have to call the buyer and see what he wants to do, as don't have time to change oil/clutch plates now


It won't be brake fluid, the brakes are completely separate.
