97 srad undertray/number plate problem??
Discussion
This is odd, bought a 750 srad track bike and im putting it on the road.It has an aftermarket one piece seat unit, little tail tidy and rear led brake light and indicators i've fitted.Problem is the number plate that i got with the bike was a standard legal 7x9 size. When i put it on the bike it looked bloody huge for some reason, really close to the rear tyre??Maybe a couple of inches or so clearance.I temporarily stuck number plate in situ and bumped up overr the little 4 inch step into my garage, number plate snagged rear wheel and come off!!WTF??
I cant physically put the number plate any higher!!I was planning to put it through an mot but how in the hell can i do it if the number plate is going to foul the rear wheel when riding it??I've bought a 5x7 plate to put on it later,i started to think bike had been lowered or something but i'm 6ft 3 and bike feels perfectly normal when i'm sitting on it??Anyone else had this problem?I'll add pics later.

Here is a photo of the rear of my SRAD so you can see how many miles you're off from standard. Personally I think unless you fit a little letterbox plate you're not going to have enough clearance as long as you continue to mount the plate that far back.
Blimey, its a fair bit further forward right enough.I'll try the tilting option first then if thats ok i'll swap to the 5x7 plate after the mot.Edited by Mastodon2 on Wednesday 20th May 16:59

No offence, OP, (this is my opinion on all of these tacky, awful mods) but on what planet is that or has that ever been good looking or even remotely better than the standard bike - even on the back of an SRAD that just looks fking gash
Obviously beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, but I'd be trawling breakers and eBay and putting that back to standard.
I see these so often - the plate mounted on some flimsy bracket with no mudguard; looks like some 11 year old knocked it up in special needs metalwork.
Well thank christ it was the previous owner who suffered from special needs and wanted the bike to look gash!!?Obviously beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, but I'd be trawling breakers and eBay and putting that back to standard.
