I'm thinking of doing a trackday but my insurance policy doesn't cover trackdays.

Options are 1) go uninsured. Possible but my bike is new and so binning it would be expensive (and emotionally painful)
2) Hire a bike. I've done this in the past. But adds quite a lot to the cost of the trackday and 3) try and get trackday cover.

For option 3: has anyone done this? What was the cost? Any recommendations for who to contact?

I thought insurance companies had caught onto that. Does it still work? Not that I would try it ....

Just tried Moris for a quote.

Max value of bike is £12,000

Excess £875.

One trackday - £251

In the grand scheme of things that isnt too bad if you're unfortunate enough to do a proper job - last time I looked at this over 10 years ago quotes ranged from 5% to 10% of value + no cover for plastics and a ludicrous excess.
A £9000 ZX10 was around £800 for one day with an excess of around £1500 - cheaper to get track plastics, crash protection and take the risk.

Probably no use for someone that's splashed out on a Panigale or similar as there's no cover for bikes valued over £12,000.
Much cheaper to hire a bike as only around £200 and that includes wear and tear and petrol.
