Catalunya MotoGP and the Pyrenees (pics)

Recently returned from a trip to Catalunya MotoGP and a return back via the N260 in the Pyrenees, 2-up on the GS. It was virtually perfect weather the entire trip - temps an ideal 16-26 every day from Barcelona all the way through the Pyrenees. GS was perfect - just a great handling bike for touring, 2-up, loads of torque, immense comfort - especially for the pillion. Couldn't have asked for more!!!

Due to arriving in Spain only the day before the MotoGP, I had no choice but to hightail it straight to Barca if we were going to see the race the next day. But otherwise it's definitely worth staying in the Pyrenees... There is nothing south of it. I've ridden the Pyrenees in 203/14/15 - here is my write up in 2013 when we did an infinity loop both North and South.

If and when you do it again, I can recomend a very nice biker route from Logronno to Santander via Ona. Lovely lovely route with a mixture of everything.

I'll hopefully be over there in September. Can't wait.

For sure, I may even be back there again later this year after the school hols. I think we went via Ona in 2013 as a detour - the mountains south east of Santander are ace.

Went out on a Friday ferry from Portsmouth, returned 9 days later back in Portsmouth. 2 nights on the ferry, 3 nights in Barca, 2 nights in San Sebastian, and 2 nights in the Pyrenees (Andorra + Saint Lary Soulan).

Atmosphere was good! But I honestly expected a bit more. Given the choice, I'd rather do Misano or Assen if given the choice.

In Barca, as checking out, this Porsche 918 was parked up. A young lad around 12yo came up and just gawped... at the GS! He asked if he could have his photo taken in front of the bike, and I obliged. The locals just ogled the bike, pointed and smiled. The boy and others left... and ignored the Porsche! I think people see the 918 and just think 'wker', but bikes are just... cool

It's my iPhone running TomTom - always useful as a comparison with the BMW Satnav (Garmin Zumo) which seems to offer up quite different routes and is a LOT harder to use compared to TomTom.
