Copied from another forum.

Warning ! ! !
Cat & fiddle road to macclesfield ! !
There is talk of a farmer purposefully putting diesel on one of the corners .
Stay safe

I'm not sure how true this is but the guy I sit next to at work was telling me about this happening a couple of years ago along with other things earlier in the week.

Has he put some potholes there too?

It's made up. Maybe because someone is bored or they are making excuses for being st at riding.
Aye possibly but tbh I wouldn't be supprised if it was true. I've had one going mental at me last year. I will get my man at work to check it out.

Ment to say I got my helmet sorted, Thanks for the offer :-)

The cat and fiddle is a bit like premature sex.

There's loads of hype, it promises to be a great ride but is over just as you get started leaving you unfulfilled and frustrated.

Not that I have a problem keeping it up you understand.
I like that, very good Sir.

Its when ride on roads we went on the other week that makes me realise what im missing out on cry You chaps living further up North are very lucky.

Having said that Cat and Fiddle is in the middle of ok loop for me if I fancy a 1.5hr or so out.

I was up there Tues night and there was no evidence of intentional foul play that I could see, and while I wasn't exactly touring a guy on a 'blade flew past and buggered off so clearly he wasn't too bothered by diesel (or the average speed cameras!). I put this stuff down to internet spam tbh.

Agree on the comments about this road too, I was only using it to get back down to Macc after having a play on the far more challenging A54 from Bosley biggrin It makes a nice little loop..
Im told the cameras don't work on the Macc side of the pub ( not that I want to chance it ) As you say locals are not put off by them, Tbh you can see the wire has been pulled out of them.

We need to get out for a ride.

Haha! Reminds me of my nephew who picked up 12 points and a ban (then told them his income so got a four figure fine to boot) for the same camera in Leeds.

His reasoning: "everyone" said it was switched off. Seriously? WTF? "Everyone"? A bloke down the pub? Your mates dad?
Like I said I wouldn't chance it. Plenty of people do.

A much better way is to come up past Tegg's Nose to the Setter Dog, then take the first right after and rejoin the road just below the Cat and Fiddle.
Much quicker, better variety of road and no cameras.
I shall consult the map for this then I don't know many roads over that way. Cheers
