So after the last three weeks nightmare ktm situation I took the bike back got my money and bought this.

2007 r6 with 12k on the clock.I was after one of these or a 675 but after sitting on a few triumphs I'm just too chunky for one. I looked like an ape on a monkey bike. So this will be taking over as my track bike for next season but for the rest of summer I'm just gonna use it as a road bike, get used to it and upgrade some bits as I go.
I also got a bit of cash back from the ktm so I'm going to order a clear screen, rear sets, hm quickshifter and some supercorsas. Trouble is I can't walk at the moment so I can't pick it up untill I.m better.

Cheers John. I'm gonna take it to a track to get it tested as soon as im fit. That little can is an akropovic with the cat still in place and it doesn't sound that loud but not sure what rpm theyl test these at, it also has a hole for a baffle but it doesn't have one with it so might be another option. It also came with a yoshimura can so I can try both and if not ill ask around what people use.

Tim was this you on your KTM?

Ha in my mind it was more like this

That ktm was the only bike at 6ft I've not been able to put both my feet down.

Not like this from the weekend. I'm the ape on the back. This was a surprisingly fun bike, although you were practically invisible on the road.

So I got the bike delivered yesterday as my backs slowly getting beetter. still can't ride it properly but rode it across town to store in my parents garage until I'm up for a proper ride.

Quick impressions was that it 'strangely' did feel like a smaller version of my mates 07 r1. Basically just felt slow slow slow 9krpm then faaast. The only thing I noticed from a short run was the brakes were rubbish. It might be because the three other bikes I've ridden recently have Had either brembos, decent racing set up or were brand new. These are the standard 07 lines and I didn't get chance to check the pads. But this is my first job.

Anyway being bed bound recently and bored as usual I just wasted money online so incoming over the next few days I've got some diamond rearsets, braided brake lines, a clear double bubble,hm super lite quickshifter, some stomp grip, a brake protector and a new red and white helmet because If I don't match I'll throw up and I dropped my stupid arai which disintegrated.

I'm basically buying all the track bits over the rest of this year so I can get some fairings over winter and use it next year as my track bike. My main job is to sort the brakes out so I'll fit the braided lines with new fluid and grab some new pads if needed. Then some new fork internals for my fat, I mean dormant muscled body.
I'll grab some before and after pictures when I get on with fitting all the bits this weekend.

My mate took it for a little run just to check everything over and compare the brakes to his. He said they feel very similar so maybe it's just me comparing them to better set up bikes.
Any way I took it around a quick loop and these are quick bikes for a 600. I didn't expect quite as much thrust above 10k.I can't wait to Get out properly.

His and hers....shame mines the hers...Doh

Racefits. The worst exhausts in the world.

Have to ask - did you deliberately buy the same colour scheme...?
Ha no, trust me there's nothing good about having the same but smaller engined bike as any friend. the amount of piss taking all ready from mates is off the chart. It just happened to be the colour of the one they had for sale in the shop I took the ktm back to. The red and white is actually my least favourite colours they came in, and it's a pearl white so any damage is more of a pain to match colour to. Itl have track fairings and likely be black next year anyway.

Riding them they feel very similar but the r6 does feel slightly smaller. Not quite as fat fairing wise and knees slightly more aggressive even compared the the aftermarket rear sets on the r1. The seats slightly harder and 'racket' on the 6 as well.
Even the power delivery is very similar obviously on a smaller scale on the 600. They both feel like the throttles really lazy and not particularly fast, within reason (compared to the ultra sensative big bang model) but then they both set off like scalded cats in the top half/third of the rpm.

A set of adjustable bars will go a long way to making it more comfortable for you Tim.
Perfect cheers, they're on the list.

What levers do you track guys use. I want something full length, relatively inexpensive and easily replaceable. I tried to get a pair of Harris levers as I like the look of them but their websites suspended catalog orders so not sure how easy they'd be if I just snap one side to replace or whatever.

Came home to this haul which was nice. Felt like Christmas.
