How can I tell if it's a backfire or just pops & bangs

My bike has always made little explosion noises when decelerating. Very cool, like it a lot.

It's got an aftermarket exhaust since before i bought it so I've always thought this was normal for the set up.

But how do I know this isn't actually a more serious back fire?

Thanks for all the replies. Going to say it's not a misfire after checking out some vids and realising how loud misfires are. Appreciate the help
