I think its because you've been power sliding out of corners on full lock.
This could be it. Maybe.

It's not rubbing on anything.

Interestingly it's only on the left side as well!

Did consider the shock, but not sure atm

You sure it's not the chain rubbing? Wider tyre/ misaligned wheel/loose chain??
Perfectly sure fella. Alignment is all spot on...

Got the tyre / suspension guy to have a look at it on the track day and his comment was 'fast rebound'... wink

This is after I tweaked the rebound:

Just checked careful the right side of the tyre and it does show similar pattern but not quite as noticeable.

Thing is from the pictures the wavy effect on the edge looks like it's been cut rather than worn if that makes sense. And looking at the tyre in general, there's no indication of a problem across the rest of the tyre.
Hi speed rebound isn't something you can adjust either.
Are you sure when you lean the bike to the right the chain isn't falling against the tyre??
Positive mate. It's not when possible due to the distance ... My tyre guy reckons it's fine. Just lean more biggrin pmsl

I had to increase rebound front and rear on the bike yesterday as it was rebounding to fast under track conditions!

Ok so keep an eye on it and see how it goes.
As for needing more rebound, depending on what oil is in the shocks it's likely that it's thinned out if the weather is warm making the rebound respond faster. It's why I like 5w as it's more consistent through the temp ranges
I'm going to get the shock rebuilt ... I do reckon track work was overheating the oil ... Hence the quicker rebound. However, I did set the suspension up in winter/spring ... wink

I think it's a damping problem ... The 'high' spots are the same on each side of the tyre ... Just less pronounced on the right side ... So reckon rebound issue.

- either lack of...
- oil breakdown...

Tyre pressures....

What tyre pressures are you running? You may want to try adding a few psi and see what happens.

That pattern is similar to what happens on big bikes fitted with soft structured front tyres, which normally shows as cupping of the front tread pattern and it is worse with lower tyre pressures, the tyre shape is essentially deforming under load and I bet is what is creating the uneven edge wear pattern you have.
